-Ok, so here are the graphs of my bodyweight exercise progressions. I guess they're pretty self explanatory.

-As a note, a sudden dip in the graph around the 60 second mark on the y-axis indicates that I've progressed onto the next set of exercises by decreasing the leverage available for me, making the exercises oh so much harder.

-Also, even though it has been 67 days since I've begun the BW training, I've also been experimenting with different exercise/rest routines, so the actual number of days of exercise is of course somewhat lower.

-Yet another note: I haven't been taking any type of exercise supplement (other than glucosamine/condroitin) such as protein during these 67 days. I'd be interested to hear about different results using exercise supplements.

-Right now it looks like it will most likely take at least the 6 months that he predicted, but I'm encouraged to actually see there does seem to be improvement.

Matt Furey workouts will kick your butt. They are great for general physical development as well as specific strength training.

I really like crossfit (although not just body weight..) Mark Twight actually posts quite a bit in the training forum there.

As for bodyweight training, I really like Scrapper's sitehttp://www.trainforstrength.com/. workout #1 is great!

I lift 3-4 times a week--all free weights--for general conditioning and to help me maintain body mass (6'2", 185#). I'd get pretty weak without it, and also typically lose about 10 pounds of mass in a month without weight training and my ensuing appetite.

Being something of a purist, I have a lot of respect for these body weight techniques. However, I'm a little apprehensive at a couple of things:

First is the L. Ron Hubbard-esque approach that the books seem to take. I can't quite put my finger on it, but it's a little cheesy and unsettling.

I also question the safety of strictly bodyweight training on taller/longer people. I.e., there's a good reason that gymnasts tend to be short and stocky to begin with. My biggest fear, even with perfect form, would be the incredible stress on my shoulders and elbows. Any comments from experience?

Why don't you just try it for a few weeks and see how you feel. I'm a six foot guy and I think these workouts are greatly helping my core strength. The whole premise of body-weight training is that the less leverage the better and you've got those extra few inches. I guess I just don't see where your coming from. I say put down the weights and give it a go.

Plus your "gymnasts are short for a reason" excuse doesn't fly, short people excel at gymnastics due to the ease of flipping and rotating.
