Excellent question. The wife was buggin me to find out if she will be able to shyte/shower/shave back. My buddy who went last year said he took a shower but IDK where. I'm worried as rockclimbing is scary and no shitterz could lead to mass outbreak of pantz-crappin.

There will not, however, be showers at Burnwood, the Rendezvous location. Your buddy may have been camped at another location. Roger has a pay shower, Chestnut Creek has showers, and I believe most of the raft-company campgrounds also have showers.

Might be. I finally feel better. I would start to feel better, try to do some stuff just around the house and SMACK down it was! It took a month. The first day back out climbing was my hiking into Linville coughing up aliens.....really disgusting. It will run it's course for sure. I had no appetite and that didn't help. I can't count the jars of peanut butter I ate last month.

Coughing up aliens... yep, that sounds eerily familiar.

Thank you the info and thank the port-a-shitter company for the shitters. As far as showers go, hey we are climbers and most climbers know how to dirtbag it for a couple days. there are always packs of Wet Ones to take a half ass baths

I'm not sure, but the bridge will be closed to all trafic in May for cleaning/renovation activities. I believe there will be several detours.

Only 1/2 spots reserved? According to the Rendezvous website as of 4-1-08 only 350 of the 700 spots have been reserved. Didn't something like 1400 people show up last year? I just hope there isn't a mad scramble to last minute sign up leaving people with no entry. So I guess I'm tryin to say spread the word and remind people they have to register. I bumped into a couple Coopers regulars last week who asked me if I was going and had no idea they had to register. They probably would have checked the website last minute for schedules only to find out that it was sold out. Apparently there are some climbers who are not members of rc.com. I am still trying to figure out how they bought shoes/ropes/cams/and even belay devices without asking on here.

Maybe climbers such as myself decided not to go this year because of the lower number allowed. I figured that I would give my spot up for someone else and go to a couple of gatherings closer to home due to rising gas prices.

That's my guess -- that there will be a mad scramble for the remaining slots once people are certain they can actually make it.

My girlfriend and I are signed up, but I know a bunch of my friends are not going to go this year because of the $25 a person fee. Last year they talked about a "per car" fee, not a per person fee, and this upset some people. Anyway, I think per car would promote car pooling, and I think the real space issue is parking, not personal space.

$25 really? I mean I can see if they wanted a couple hundred bucks....but it's 3 days man for $25. My local campground is flippin $15/day. Not to mention that it is for a good cause. I'd love to be able to carpool but me+wife+gear=full ass subaru. I'm sure there are gonna be some issues with the new format, but they did it to try and improve things. I think we need to remember that this is also a fundraiser for a good climbing related group. My wife set aside $200 bucks b/c she felt like only paying the $25 was being cheap. I would rather buy $200 worth of gear, but she controls the books.

I completely agree, and I'm sure I'll donate more than just my $25 admission. I'm just passing along what my friends are saying. I would actually rather a $100 per car fee, which would definately increase carpooling numbers. If you just limit the number of cars, which is the real space issue, then more people can come if they carpool effectively. I would like to see more people and fewer cars in general at these events.

I completely disagree. It should be a climbing gathering/carshow. We could all pimp out our rides and bump our systems.....sweet. As far as donations go....my wife has set our budget for the event and plans on all cash we still have on sunday being donated (she is doing this b/c I like to buy stuff......anything....I'll buy it). Maybe for next year they could arrange several busses to leave from major cities to help. I'm sure that this years experiments will be tweaked in the future.

I unfortuantely (sort of) am not going to make the Rendezvous any more and need to sell my tickets. My hubby and I received our invitation to go to Cape Verde, Africa with the Peace Corps and just can't squeeze in a 16hr round trip drive and time off of work, what with packing and learning Portuguese. Any takers?

Looks like a spot just opened up in Mal's trad class.....can you sell your "tickets"? I'm not sure if the registration allows for this? Bummer you can't make it. I bet if you call and talk to Elaina she might be able to help you out (let her know to fill your clinic spot too).

Yeah, they told me I couldn't get a refund but I could sell my tickets and that they were expecting to sell out so it shouldn't be a problem...I dunno what that means for our spots in the trad climbing class though, if whoever got our tix would get our spot or what? It's hard to be TOO bummed when it means I'll be spending 2+ years on a desert island...

I thought we had to show ID and our registration, otherwise I'd buy up tickets and scalp them @ the gate. As far as the clinic goes: UPDATE:4/22/08 This year we will not start a waiting list for clinics until Friday morning. If a clinic you wish to sign up for is full, we recommend you show up at the NRAC Hospitality Tent at 8:45 on the morning of your clinic and put your name down on the waiting list at that time. In the event there is a no-show/late arrival for your clinic of choice, you will be allowed to fill the spot on a first come first served basis. Arrive prepared to go out and climb for the day so as not to hold up the other clinic participants.
