I met a french dude at the crag last week who claims to masterbate before he attempts any red point. Says he climbs way better.

Disturbing things was he was about to attempt a red point at the time which had me watching where i stepped.

Not kidding.

I'd love to hear the philosophy behind this one.

Chewing gum inhibits optimal breathing. When you don't breath, you pass out and choke on the gum. It doesn't get much more relaxed than dead. CI and I worked this theory out together one day while engaging in auto-erotic-asphyxiation games with two Bangkok hookers and an electric eel (don't ask). Works like a charm.

It's hard to hold your breath while chewing gum. Not sure about the mint part.

It's hard to breathe with gum stuck in your throat, so I'm not sure about the gum part either. Yeah, there's a joke about climbing and chewing gum at the same time in there somewhere.

Jay

I was watching a baseball game the other night and they showed a replay of this guy rounding third at full speed and head for home. On his way around third he blew a big bubble. I was impressed.

But, as for climbing, I would rather not have anything in my mouth when doing something powerful. I wonder what would kill you first, choking on your gum, or falling while unconscious?

Josh
