Most people buy chalk at the same place they buy the rest of their climbing gear

I asked a question about something I've never ever personally experienced/experimented with/seen or heard anyody else try or even heard of anybody ever speaking of. That makes it a stupid ass moronic question?

So by your standards I'm a stupid ass moron because I don't know anything about what I haven't ever experienced in any way shape or form. Which is basically the same thing as saying I'm a stupid ass moron because I don't know anything about what I don't know anything about.

Right.

If your not going to contribute to the threads topic, please don't post. Because..

Noob wants chalk advice.
Noob uses search bar.
Noob finds this thread.
Noob reads useless crap, doesn't get answer.
Noob gets frustrated with searching and makes his own thread.
Noob gets reamed out for not using search bar.

I know this because I speak from experience. (not specifially this thread, I posted this because I couldn't find anybody else that mentioned anything about they tried or had friends that tried blackboard/sidewalk chalk)

bill413 wrote:
I know climbers who are more concerned with their chalk than their harness. Some famous climbers will forgo the harness, as long as they have chalk. So....which do you think is more significant?

I think it's safe to say that you can assume that the person that would ask this type of question is not in fact Dan Osman.

For everybody that actually has contributed their ideas thank you very much I will definately try the baking powder. Lime sounded good until I saw that MSDS.....

There's a slight chance a web retailer will pop up if you click the link below...

http://www.lmgtfy.com/?q=climbing+chalk

Although, you can't actually buy anything on the intardnet, not possible...Crazy

Basically you went from this question is stupid to you're stupid for not googling it? Which is completely different...

I meant I don't know of any local place that would sell climbing specific chalk. So no I'm not a moron or a troll and I didn't google climbing chalk because that would accomplish absolutely nothing.

Making observations based on things like that IF/THEN statement leads me to beleive you spend far too much time on the computer because that's a pretty stubborn way of seeing things..

IF you didn't google xyz THEN you're a dumbass.

Right.

Oh man, Tyler, just read the helpful advice and leave the rest alone. There is a distinct 8th grade boy mentality permeating this forum. I find it ironic that there is a long thread about a slightly offensive climber in a gym (the pro douchebag thread) when it seems that 80% of the posts here are nothing but slams. But that's the male ego at work.

Uhm, I am male. But self-aware. And not excluding myself. I often catch myself in the middle of typing a snarky reply and ask if I'm contributing to the negative karma of the world with such an attitude. Of course, usually my 8th grade inner voice says "who cares" and I hit "post". Blush

Nope.
He's getting slammed because:
1) he asked a shockingly obvious question before doing even the simplest of basic searching. It really was a stupid question.
2) he doesn't understand that asking before doing a simple search is exactly what makes it a stupid question. So we have stupidity x 2.
3) he then makes up an answer by suggesting a substitue item without doing any investigation into what the original item is. Stupidity x 3.
4) he then tries to save face by using the bogus "well, that's not what I meant" excuse. Lame.

No, you are insulting 8th graders. There was a great South Park episode recently that dealt with these exact same sexist stereotypes, via vaginal flatulence. It did not, however, touch on the agist aspects of these issues.

I'm more of an idle boredom type than a male ego type. If it were male ego then I'd probably charge at anyone gunning for me and buck them with my horns. No wait, maybe it's rams that do that.

I could type out 4 paragraphs explaining why every point you make is just wrong/stubborn/ignorant or doesn't make any sense whatsoever, but f it. I'd rather browse around and see what new knowledge I can find about climbing.

Let's see:
Original post contained this:
In reply to:
I don't really know where to get climbing-specific chalk...
then, a later post contains:
In reply to:
I meant I don't know of any local place that would sell climbing specific chalk.

Now, despite the amazing psychic powers that I possess, I did not know that in the original post you meant you did not have a local place.
So it seems that point 4 that you are refuting is indeed true.
Oh, unless, of course, point 4 is wrong because you weren't trying to save face.

Instead, the bickering and name calling gets going...not that that surprised anyone.Laugh

Tyler A, most of us can't believe anyone is so stupid as you appear to be, but at the risk of being helpful, I will say that use of regular chalk, like found at Walmart, is much better at telling your brahs and brohams which sick project you have completed. I will post a picture detailing this very important point to illustrate.

Here is my buddy Ujahn following me up my last sick project. Note the X just to his left? Walmart school chalk. It actually will eventually wash off, yet provide proof that all your brohams have small penis's when they see the actual proof that you sent!

Furthermore, you won't be weighted down by the large bags of messy loose crap etc etc etc as this will fit right into your pocket.

Always glad to help, and I've linked some of the big words above for you as well so you can further understand my point. You're welcome!!

Noob recoils in horror at the unbridled mockery and viciousness in this thread
Noob has the epiphany that "there are no dumb questions" is completely wrong
