In reply to: In reply to: Iz-ouch Gary, OK OK let me clarify on the "extra scratch" portion. I'm thinking more "a cam here a cam there", maybe a set of nuts, etc... Should I start at one end of the cam spectrum and buy my way through? Start with a set of hex/nutz/stopper/etc... to get the trad ball rolling? All of the C4's? Any particular sizes to immediately double up on? 1's and 2's always seem to be handy. TCU's of any size are useful. A set of nutz is relatively cheap. In reality it's hard to go piecemeal. Start building it, whatever you buy you'll need, but your not going to do many trad routes with a set of nutz and two cams. The only bit of advice is you probalby won't need anything bigger than number 4 cam (unless you go to the Voo a lot). I see our resident sport climber is giving out trad advice.

Doubled up on .5, 1, 2. I use Aliens for the smaller stuff. What you decide to double up on really depends on where you climb most often. In Eldo, you need the smaller stuff more often, so you wouldn't really need to bother with double 1's and 2's. I only have one set of stoppers. Again, all depends on your preference. Play with the gear, see what feels good for you.

Hahahaha! I knew someone was going to call me out on that! Thanks dave. Thing is I climbed trad for over 12 years before getting bored with it. I still rack it up once in awhile. All things seem to go in cycles so I am sure I'll eventually want to do more trad again at some point.

For a bit of totally useless information. When changing anchors always remember to thread the rope through the top link of the chain... http://i2.photobucket.com/...pJuly2-52005_085.jpg At this time tomorrow, I'll still be driving through Wyoming....

FYI for all, EMS on Colorado and I-25 is going out of Business. July 29th is their closing day. Everything in the store is 20%, and then they'll continue marking down items until everything is gone. I spoke with a dood there and they've still got a selection of tri-cams, hexes, stoppers, and large (5-6) Camelots, a few axes, etc...

Hello everyone. For those interested, I will be competing in the Dew Action Sports Tour on Saturday July 15th at the Pepsi Center. My event is BMX Vert and it will be held inside the arena. The prelims are from 3:30-5:00 p.m. and the finals are from 8-9 p.m. I will be riding the big "U" shaped ramp. Some of you that I have climbed with have expressed an interest in going and it would be great to have a RC.com cheering section. I hope some of you will make it. Jay

Excellent day of climbing yesterday in Eldo with everyone who couldn't make it to Tensleep. A note to the pansy, sissy lah lahs who were too pooped to practice: Next time we will practice the self-rescue stuff before we start climbing. Gotta eat your veggies before you eat your desert! Kyle and Nate: pay particular attention to this post. This is classic "guilt trip parenting" here. Essential skills to learn as a soon-to-be-dad.

Cindy, I understand. I would go to see Social Distortion if I had the chance. The contest will be on TV. I will have to check the schedule. It won't be live so I am guessing it will be on NBC or USA sometime on Sunday.

In reply to: HEY!! I would have climbed with you fruit's in Eldo yesterday!! Guess I'm not "in" anymore..... josh Don't be a tard! Of course you're still "in" with us window licking, short bus riding special types. Hey Micah! You're in charge of Happy Hour Craggin' while I'm gone. Of course, if this weather continues, it will be more like Happy Hour Swimmin'. Make me proud, kid! Uh, and no spanking. Only the REAL crag mom gets to spank.
