I like Bob Dylan's "I Shall Be Released": They say every man needs protection They say every man must fall So I swear I see my reflection Someplace so high above this wall. On the other hand is Cyndi Lauper's "Time After Time" (Just because it's annoying, though maybe reassuring from belayer/spotter): If you fall I will catch you, I'll be waiting, Time after time.

On a 21 hour Alaska summit day, I got the song "What are the simple folk doing tonight," from Camalot stuck in my head. It was funny for the first 10-12 hours..... Cheers, Halsted

Slip, Slidin' Away, Slip, Slidin' Away, You know the nearer your destination, The more you slip slidin' away. Love the tune, hate humming it two or three pitches from the top of a route.

Anything country. It dosen't even matter if you are not climbing. Don't get it stuck in your head. You may want to jump off cause you think of the words and get depressed.

I was onsighting a beautiful slab climb one day (verticle sandpaper) and my belayer started singing I belive in a thing called love by the Darkness and I just about fell I was so pissed. She knew I hated that song so I yelled at her until she stopped and then had to switch the song in my head to comfortably numb. Luckily that gave me the concentration make it the rest of the way up.

Does anyone know what song Joe Simpson gets stuck in his head while on his way down Siula Grande in "Touching the Viod"? ...simply because that must have been the worst song ever.

In reply to: The worst song to get stuck in your head, whether climbing or not, is "It's a Small World," followed closely by anything by the Bee Gees. -Jay They have SHUT DOWN its a small small world for renovations. Unfortunately, they aren't renovating that annoying song. The worst song for me ... the doom song (from invader zim). simple lyrics, yet gir is so cute. edit: lyrics: "doom, doom, doom, doom, doom, doom, doom, doom, doom, doom, doom, doom, doom, doom, doom, doom, doom, doom, doom, doom, doom, doom, doom, doom, doom, doom, doom, doom, doom, doom, doom, doom, doom, doom, doom, doom, doom, doom, doom, doom, doom, doom, doom, doom, doom, doom, doom, doom, doom, doom, doom, doom, doom, doom ... ooh, what's that?" makes you almost smile at the impending doom ... but the lyrics are so annoying. coylec

I believe it is a Boney M song, something about a river...... worst song I've had in my head was the - roley poley fish heads song. Not sure where from and who/when... but it never goes away. also- 'oh, I do love to be beside the sea-side!' and..... any christmas carol- at all- at ANY time! ....Dave

JC you think that lion king song is bad, try the one where they go " hakuna matata, aint no passing phrase, means no worries, for the rest of your days, its our problem free, philosiphy, hakuna matata.... " normally not a bad song, untill it is stuck there for hours.. other songs not to get stuck in your head: High Hopes~ Frank Sinatra the all popular: Bodies~ Drowning Pool and also: Free Fallin~ Tom Petty and most annoying: Not Gonna Get Us~ TaTu

UGH.. they play 'not gonna get us' without fail at least 4 times a day at the gym I work at... While climbing I got the one that goes "the happiest day of my life was the day that I died" or whatever. Didn't do too well that day. How about seek up by dave matthews band "fall back again" Or while belaying I get New Order - Bizzare love triangle stuck in my head: "every time I see you falling, I get down on my knees and pray" Occasionally I'll get an LDS Hymn stuck in my head as motivation "let us all press on" etc.
