fairly can't walk down the rc.com sidewalk without tripping over a post or reply he made, not even a week ago. I can't bring myself to reply to those threads, almost. I think we exchanged words once or twice, but I really only knew him as somebody else who posted alot, and climbed way harder than me. if there's some alternate reality you fall into after shuffling off this mortal coil, where everyhting is chill, the ice is always plastic, and theres never any bees or snakes in the cracks, I hope he's there.

Only talked directly to him a few, but he seemed to be a decent guy, and after reading all of this I guess there was only more to come. It's a terrible loss. I won't be able to get online at 8:00 tonight, but I'll raise a glass when I can. RIP man, RIP...

Our latest favorites: Jon Mark and Robbo's Malt Scotch Whiskey The Smokey, Peaty One was Stinky's favorite, and its excellent. The Rich Spicey One is my favorite, but I like a little smokey peat on the side

Here's a toast to be shared around the world, through this site and by those lucky enough to be sharing fond memories at his memorial, to a great man who many of us knew only through written words and somehow touched us all. May we rope up on the other side someday Sty,,, Here's to absent friends and fallen comrades Bottoms up- -F

I'm pouring out a little of my barley pop for a homie... You always let your funky flag fly, Sty. You were not always to everybody's tastes all the time, but that wouldn't have been as fun, would it?

Hi all, I'm late getting to this thread, but wanted to share. I'd never met Daryn, but we were supposed to climb in Zion together in a few weeks. I really don't know what to say. Daryn feels like a friend to me, though I'd never had the chance to meet him in person. We corresponded about wall climbing and he gave me all sorts of beta to make the endeavor easier, beta I was using the day he died. All I can say right now is that we'll miss ya.

I don't know what to say... I am floored, shocked. I've been away for a few weeks doing field work with patchy internet that allowed me little morethanto log on the here just before the conection crashed. One of my parterns just sent a PM with the news. I don't know what to say. It just doesn't seem real, but it hurts so it is. It just doesn't seem right. Sty, I'll miss ya buddy!

Its been quite a week. I'm sorry for not posting earlier. After Thursday night, most of us were quietly exhausted. And yes, there was a climbing outing on Saturday. To all who toasted to Sty, you were included in our final tribute to Daryn on Thursday nite. And it was a real tribute to him, that people around the country- and maybe a few others scattered around the world, were lifting a glass in his memory. He had a great gang of family and friends. Thanks for being with us :) We did take a photo, but I don't have a copy yet... mine came out really dark. his friends jason and james put together an amazing slideshow of pics from his life. If we can post it, we will. I took a long mtn bike ride tonight, me 'n my dog rode right into the equinox sunset. there are fall colors, and leaves on the trail. I know he's out there, playing, somewhere where its always early ice season. Do not stand at my grave and weep, i am not there, I do not sleep. I am a thousand winds that blow, I am the diamond glint on snow, I am the sunlight on ripened grain, I am the gentle autumn rain. When you wake in the morning's hush I am the swift uplifting rush Of quiet birds in circled flight, I am the soft starlight at night. Do not stand at my grave and weep, I am not there- I do not sleep.

I'm sorry and very sad to have found out this very sad and bad news today. It's a great loss, to a wonderful and very popular guy. RIP, I found out your real name today, I know you were always wary of giving it out. I am sorry we won't get the chance to meet after all and that I will never now have that wonderful chance to climb with you down in Utah, with you as my tour guide as we'd planned to 'sometime' this coming year.
