OMG! I just got a letter today, the kind NOBODYwants. JURY DUTY I have it on JUNE 4th. Hopefully it will be over that day...I will absolutley cry if I have to miss this trip. Anyone no a sure fire way to get out of it? I mean, I appreciate my responsibility as a citizen and all, and normally I would even enjoy pulling jury duty. But I really DO NOT want to miss the get together. [ This Message was edited by: crazywacky on 2002-05-14 11:48 ]

OMG is RIGHT Scott!!!!!! You need to get in touch with the clerk of courts and tell them that you will be out of state on that date...fib a little. Tell them that you are taking a bunch of mis-fit children to Utah on a climbing trip.....not too far from the truth, since you are bringing your little brother...hehe...DO IT!!

We are going to do the "I have custody of a child under 10, which would be left without adequate supervision". Which is accurate I guess..in a way. I do have kids under 10. And my Mom, I wonder if she is adequate, as far as the courts are concerened?

Well, there's the honest approach, and the good ol boy .. "just let him fry" response .. that usually gets you knicked by the defense pretty quick.

I'm not sure if that'll work. This one is in the Civil Courts building... Q: "How do you feel about awarding amounts over 30 Million Dollars to an injured person?" A: "Just Let Him Fry!!!!!!" Maybe it'll work... [ This Message was edited by: crazywacky on 2002-05-14 12:15 ]

Okay. FWIW, I will be showing up in SLC around 2-3pm on Tuesday, the 4th of June. In tow will be my trusty sherpa, T (Just kidding girl I'm planning on getting a single campsite reserved at Tanner Flats (for me, T and anyone else who's going to be there before thursday, and wants to camp). Anyone who'll be there early who wants to hook up, let me know.. (PM would be nice, hint hint - d.

crazywacky, I got the same letter 3 weeks ago, just send them a letter asking for another week due to vacation plans. They will not deny your request, you dont even have to lie, but if your really worried that they wont change it, make up a real whopper. Dont worry, be happy. Les

Crazy, It should be fairly easy to get an extension or an alternate date. They only hassle you if you're trying to get out of it all together. woodsE SLC in 23!!!

Well slap me and call me silly! I'll give it a go. Honesty is the best policy anyway. And I don't mind doing Jury Duty, I just don't wanna miss out on seeing all you wonderful people.

There is a free map (downloadable) of the Salt Lake Metro area and how to get to the climbing spots, REI, etc. at the following website: http://www.saltlakeclimbers.org or http://63.226.73.136/slca/maps/maps.html I am willing to trad up with anyone who needs a partner(s) during the SLC Gathering. I know some really cool spots in LCC, and will likely devote most of my time there.... hoping that you locals will take me to AmFk after the fact. See you all next month. Gabe jgbier@yahoo.com
