 Some lady and three young kids around 8 - 10 years old showed up at Morrison today and the kids had those bigass scuba looking goggles and nail hammers. They were wandering around on the trail that accesses the bouldering problems just hacking away at any part of the cliff they felt like hacking. We saw them just ABUSING the rock in the worst way so we screamed at them to stop and asked them where their parents were (the lady seemed to disappear). Anyway, later in the day when it was time to head off, I noticed what was seriously a HUGE pile of choss/scree/crap covering a section of the trail, which is quite steep, and it made it hard to descend. These kids WENT TO WORK on a section of the cliff and it finally let go. I think they had been rolling rocks down the hill. A hill that is directly above the main road into the town of Morrison where there is tons of traffic. Insane! What is up with this kind of retardation? This lady just brought a bunch of kids with hammers outside to a place where rock climbers hang out and these kids proceed to attack and destroy the rock right before her very eyes? What kind of parent does this? A few days earlier, I saw some complete meatslapping newbie summersaulting (literally) down an easy class five section for whatever reason. Somehow landed on his feet. Five seconds later, he takes the trail up and around again. Same location. Morrison bouldering seems to be attracting low lifes.

Darwin hasn't found these people yet. Just give it time. Then when it does, dance a little jig of gleeful joy.

Doesn't sound like a mother. Sounds like a teacher, who must have been friends with or married to a climber, who at some point must have left her, for his love for the rocks was just bigger than his love for her   She is just trying ot get back to him

wow, that sucks. what the h-e-doubble hockey sticks did they think they were they doing!? Very low on today's "cool-o-meter" reading. And I checked, bashing rocks with hammers is NOT on my list of things to do today...

A light-hearted approach: On the "glass-is-half-full" side of this situation, at least they weren't little gym grommets out trying real rock for the first time with all the latest gear Mom n' Pop had paid for, and greatly outclimbing you as you struggle away on your 2-month old project! I haven't actually experienced this yet but I live in fear...
