I know that we will be in NH somewhere climbing on Thursday at some time during the day and heading over to Rumney sometime later in the day or early evening taking roads from wherever we happen to climb. That should be more helpfull.

From AccuWeather.com:
Friday, Jun 20 High: 71 °F Clouds and sunshine with a couple of showers possible; breezy Friday Night, Jun 20 Low: 53 °F Mostly cloudy Saturday, Jun 21 High: 73 °F Mostly cloudy with a couple of showers in the afternoon Saturday Night, Jun 21 Low: 54 °F Periods of rain in the evening; otherwise, mostly cloudy Sunday, Jun 22 High: 77 °F Cloudy to partly sunny I know that this may be a good/bad thing, but the weather looks superb for this coming weekend. What weather.com says:
Fri Jun 20 Scattered T-Storms 73° H 51° L 40% Chance of precipitation Sat Jun 21 Scattered T-Storms 79° H 53° L 40% Chance of precipitation. Sun Jun 22Scattered T-Storms 82° H 54° L 40% Chance of precipitation. And the National Weather Service @ weather.gov says:
Friday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 69. Friday Night: A chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 47. Chance of precipitation is 30%. Saturday: A chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 69. Chance of precipitation is 40%. Saturday Night: A chance of showers. Cloudy, with a low around 48. Chance of precipitation is 40%. Sunday: A chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 73. And on a better note, if you have made it this far, I am 98% certain that I will make it for Tard Farday. Things have opened up with my GF's schedule and we'll be making an early exodus out of Maine to make it to the parking area on Farday for the Tard activities. Now, I just need to go back and re-read the pages to figure out where we're going. The back-woods route sounds like a blast, if only for the fording of the river. Though I'd still like to get my feet on Cannon. Now, to read the commotion from 4 pages back. I hope that the weather forecasts don't bring you down. We are planning on going regardless. A weekend out camping will do us good anyway. Cheers, Jay

Lost In The Sun and A Bit Short Are these the two climbs in question for Tard Farday? Are we really going to gang-rape these poor new routes into submission? From what I can pull up on the web these routes aren't even a year old yet... I think it would be fun. However, is anyone going to Cannon? There's too many options, good options, and I'm getting comfrused.

Weahter.com always makes things sound so grim. Those pictures look like 100% chance of doom, not 30% chance of rain. I'm in it to win it, rain or shine. I think the forecast is a 100% chance of tard gearing.

I was out today and got a few climbs in up at Camden before the rain set in. My poor GF finished a pitch in the rain, on toprope. I then re-climbed it and cleaned it. I don't mind the rain.

Tardies... On Friday, what is the meet up time? Where are we going to meet? I haven't been up there, but I don't think it will be too difficult to find the visitor's center at Crawford Notch. FWIW, I'm asking primarily about the time, because it's a 3 hour drive for me. If I'm leaving real early it is going to be around 2.5 hours. Someone mentioned 6:00 in the AM. This could lead to a grumpy partner on my end... She has the climbing bug; however, not that kind of bug and she thinks of "alpine" starts to be a ridiculous notion. 6:00? 7:00?

I doubt that it will be difficult to find. The only thing that is of any concern is the river crossing. But with 10 people we should be able to chain up and cross if it is bad. Worse case, being that it is rainy all this week, we will have plenty of ropes and I know how to rig a tyrolean and/or a swift current crossing.

This river crossing is starting to sound so epic. I hope we get there and it's 5 feet wide. That would be hilarious. But I"m probably going ot bring my swimmies, just in case. 6am sounds pretty harsh.

The NEclimbs approach directions say to cross 302 at the willey slide pullout, and walk south along the Saco to a stand of birches. that's where I came out that night after the decent hike, and at that spot the rriver was knee-to-hip deep ( this is last november) and 30-40 feet wide maybe...still, I made it accross without getting wet stepping from boulder to boulder, using a branch as a staf to balance myself. the easier place to cross the saco though(shallowest and narrowest) is about another 75 yards farther north from the willey slide pullout, at another small parking pullout on the west side of 302. there (where I started the hike in that morning) the water was only ankle deep, and the river was about 15-20 feet wide. hope you guys have great weather!

The forecast is for rain on and off all week. The river may be somewhat higher because of that, and because it is still early in the season. Luckily we won't have to deal with snow run off, but with the recent rain, we may start off the day with a few interesting stories. Thanks Rob. I'm still bringing swim trunks. After a long day, a swim sounds good anyway. However, a swim in the AM probably wouldn't be all that pleasant.

Since I would feel bad about it, here's a word doc that has both of the climbs shrunk down for your printing pleasure. Laminate and it will fit nicely in your pocket.

Compromise and call it 7AM? Reason for this is that if we meet @ 7 we could have the first party(s) on the route(s) by 8:20 ish. I think the number is 10 of us right now. That's 5 parties split between 2 routes, each no less than 600'. Is the plan to climb one then the other? I think A Bit Short is near 600' - then 400' of climbing to the top - and Lost in the Sun looks around 1,060'.

I'll just bring my jugs and fly right up.

I say we shoot for something more humane, say 8am? I know I have the info for some of you already, but for those that are planning to make trad day would you shoot me your email and cell number. Thnx 8:00? 4 dayz to hash this one out. 8:00 would be more doable. I may have a final on Thursday night, so any extra sleep would be nice.
