Whats really funny is that all the natural disaster shots at the beginning don't even appear in the movie. Which I'm thankful for mind you and I take it as a positive sign as it's obvious the marketing/distribution team is reaching and the trailer doesn't reflect the movie itself.

Just saw sunshine cleaning. A little emo for my taste, but definitely rife with dark humor, which is to my taste.
It's about two sisters who start a company cleaning up crime scenes after homicides. The one chick describes it as "quite gross, really".

It was okay. I dunno. I was kind of bored with that one. Glad you're enjoying it, though. Smile

I'm about to watch a French film called Entre Les Murs - Eng title: The Class. I can't wait. It's supposed to be really good. Sort of a documentary-style drama, if that makes sense. I recently watched Charlie Bartlett -- starring a guy who plays one of the crewmen in Star Trek. It was cute. Not absolutely fantastic, but I guess it's worth a watch.

I love movies, so I'm glad I stumbled across the thread. Smile

"The Adventures of Buckaroo Bonzai in the Eight Dimension." It was made to be a cult film, and is pretty good. The special effects hold up well even after 20 years.

Just watched "death at a funeral". NA, you'd love it.
Complete with class A drugs, full male nudity (no penish is shown) and midget porn (I shit you not!! though you don't get to see itUnsure).
Completely hilarious. I reccomend to anyone who appreciates dark humor.

Yeah I watched that 5-6 months ago, it was pretty damn funny. That was fucked up when he was trying to help the old man up off the toilet though, made me cringe just watching it.

I wish more funerals were like that. They would almost be worth the time and effort if you could get a good story to tell out of it all.Angelic

I actually bought that movie, and I rarely buy movies! It's a good one to whip out when you and friends want a movie thats not will-ferrel-stupid but not a drama.

Look familiar?

I'm excited. Should you be? I think so.

It's been a bit of a wait but we are finally getting The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo. The first installment in the Mileinnium trilogy.

Original trailer - http://www.youtube.com/...&feature=related

English language trailer - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XCz-Tg6M0Z0

Stark, violent, sensual and adult thru & thru. This should be the Swedes at their best.

Anyone read any of the books?

No, but I've seen the movie. It's good, but the English trailer misrepresents the tone of the movie. I'm not sure what is so "adult thru and thru" about it, though. I also didn't realize that it was the first of a trilogy. Kinda makes sense, though.

I just got that feeling from the reviews/press I've been reading about it. Most are saying it's slower paced and more contemplative, opting for suspense over cheap thrills most of the time.

Yep, thats her. If you've seen City of God, that was where she got her start. Sexy as hell IMO.

Hey, so did you end up in Austin over the weekend? See any good bands or movies?

Never seen it, no.

Nah, we actually decided to avoid Austin altogether because of the band/film festival. Besides, all the hotels were booked out. Will try next week, we think.

You should check it out if the chance arises, definitely one of the better/more interesting movies that came out that year.

Gotcha. You said you were thinking about heading in so I figured it was for that very purpose.

I was thinking to myself the other day how unfortunate it is that we haven't seen a successful film adaptation of an Ernest Hemingway novel in a long, long time. It's been more than 50 years. So I was curious enough to look it up and it turns out that a feature length version of The Garden Of Eden was completed in 2008 and saw a very small "test release" in the UK. Since then though, it has languished in distribution and possibly re-edit hell. The little bit of info. available makes it sound like a U.S. release is in the works but it may not even happen by the end of the year.

Originally my suspicion was that the production just wasn't very good but after seeing the trailer, I now think it's an issue of not being perceived as suitable (read: Profitable) for American audiences. The story was his most consistently confrontational of sexual taboos and the preview makes it clear that the director didn't shy away from the sex or nudity. As a big fan of his work, this may be my favorite of his novels (Yeah yeah I know, he didn't even finish it before he died. Eat me!), I am hoping something gets worked out sooner rather than later.

I'm kind of hooked on the trailer actually, I've watched it 5 times I think. It is slightly NSFW though, as it was used in Europe and contains a quick nipple shot.

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1031243/

Trailer here>> http://videos.caterinaweb.net//play.php?vid=102

Or here>> http://sg.video.yahoo.com/watch/3770405/10342782

DOES ANYONE RECOGNIZE THE SONG THAT PLAYS DURING THE LAST 40 SECONDS OF THE TRAILER??

Release date 12/10/2010!!

New trailer - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6iLwc8m16Zo

No word yet on whether they cut a bunch of sexy/nudity but I'm hoping they left it intact. If not, there may be a directors cut.

The new Darren Aronofsky movie is coming out around the same time too.

Black Swan

Trailer - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HHTfDcP0APw

He's a damn reliable director who only went slightly astray with Requiem For a Dream, so I'm pretty stoked.

And as an anecdotal note of interest, IMDB has him slated to direct X-Men Origins: Wolverine 2?? Very odd.

Remember when I said that There Will Be Blood is, and would be remembered as, one of the greatest movies of all time. Right up there with The Godfather and 2001?

Well the votes have been counted and it is indeed considered to be the best of the previous decade. And by a respecable margin too.

Film Critics Pick the Best Movies of the Decade

Mostly I agree with the list. TESOTSM seems a bit high and Lost In Translation way too low but it's mostly good.

I feel like there were way better movies last decade than all 3 LOTR. One, sure, but the whole shebang?
