A tibloc. I used the one I've had on my rack for a while in a pulley system I set up to pull down a hung tree. I kept the old one in my chainsaw kit and bought a new one for climbing.

When I drop-in at my climbing store, it's so easy to pick up an extra biner. The next time, I need an extra sling, to pair it up. I've stopped counting. I've been climbing on a pair of 5.10's. The footholds are really easy with these. But they hurt! So I bought a nice soft pair of Acopa Lowriders (they cost $5.00 more than my regular rock shoes) and tried them on a multi-pitch climb, 5.9/5.10 plus rain. Very comfortable, makes the day enjoyable, but my leader had to haul me up one corner near the top, where I just could not step up on the slimy, drippy rock.

I did that once - sent my cams to Metolius for the ole resling. They condemned my two smallest cams, pointing out that these first generation gems BOTH HAD BROKEN AXLES. By condemning I mean they disabled them, clipped the trigger wires down to the nubs and left them permanently retired. I was at once grateful and put off. They didn't ask, they just rendered them and sent them back with a short explanation. I shant send them another, even though I was grateful. They would have asked, first. DMT

At the store: A .75 C4, to replace the old-model Camalot I literally lost. I hope it turns up. Online: A 10-pack of blemished Hotwires. I got one of their last sets in stock for $6 a biner.

Retired a bunch of 24" slings and replaced them with a handful of shiny new ones made by FISH products. Bomber and cheap -- although I did get called out by a nOOb for having new slings. I told her that this was my fifth or sixth set of slings since 1982. She left the area, which was good because I was about to ask her why she had a headlamp on her helmet at 10:00 in the morning. I then ate the first of my many ham sandwiches for the day, fiddled with the keeper cord on my sticht plate, and put on my tube socks and EBs. But I digress. Sorry, yes: nice new slings from FISH products.

I doubled the DMM Wallnuts #6, 7 & 8. so the two biners with the whole set would have 3 overlapping sizes (#1 - #8 and #6 - #11) This is quite useful if I grab the wrong biner from the harness.

TC Pro's. Got 2 pitches in them this weekend before having to call it a day due to painful blisters. Thankfully to no fault of the shoes though. I left my socks at home for the approach, adn climbing tape didn't do squat for the hot spots. Should've been prepared with some duct tape.

A Voile avalanche probe. Had a fatality locally within the week so it was timely, and may I never need to use it in fury. I also bought a new roll of tape.. been using a few bollards for anchor lately.

-New harness (Singing Rock Balance to replace beater Alpine Bod.) -A burly pair of Liberty Mtn. steel twistlock 30kN ovals, Kong KISA plate, and 14' of 10mm cord = DIY fall-arrest lanyard. Ropes course gig makes it all tax-deductible to boot, and trying to get a trip to Nelson Rocks together in October.

Bolt hangers... I bought some metolius bolt hangers for a project of mine. Oh my freakkin gawd what a rip off these things are starting to be. I remember when you could score a bolt hanger for about $1.00 not but a few years back. Now the cheapest thing I've seen lately is $3.00 with the most expensive going for around $4.50. With the rapidly decreasing price of Stainless stock around the globe, you'd think the price of the finished product would reflect that. No such luck. Anyone know where to score some good deals on hangers?

I got to thinking.... the neutrino rack pack was $45, and enough biners for 3 draws. I have nice hotwires in decent condition on my C4's. So, but the 6 pack for cheap, pop them on the C4's and used the hotwires for the three new slings!

For one, Daisys aren't rated at full strength except at the the end of the chain. For another, I find the POS to be darn quick for building an anchor. Much of the time I'm able to clip directly into my anchor pieces with the POS. Short of that it normally only takes a double or single sling to have a nice equalized set up. Much faster than equalizing with cordellete. POS might not be for everyone, but it works for me.

I have the blue water version of the PAS and I use it on occasion (mostly cleaning sport anchors). I dunno about its use on gear routes though because I usually just use the rope, which is the double shit.

Using the PAS - or something similar - for cleaning sport routes is like using a hummer to drive to the grocery store: it'll get the job done but its overkill. Using the PAS - or something similar - for building anchors in the mountains is fast and efficient.

It's what I do. Actually, being able to clip in different lengths more handily has been a boon cleaning anchors and in various cleaning situations. Honestly though, I just have the damn thing and don't really need it. That's gear whoring!

Ice? Hell, I would be glad if we had a piece of climbable rock anywhere in the bloody country.

A CT screw carabiner. Small, cheap, lightweight. Like it.

There was a sale on natty light at price chopper- 12.99 per 30! Just bought 150 cans. This is the newest and finest addition to my rack, and I imagine I'll have all the gear I'll need for my next trip.

They condemned my two smallest cams, pointing out that these first generation gems BOTH HAD BROKEN AXLES. Just an update: I got back my cams today. (No condemnations, by the way!) I don't know if they dunk them in an ultrasonic bath or what, but they came back freakin' SHINEY!!! With the new slings you can't tell that they're 10 years old. I'm going to look like a nOOb until I can get them scuffed up again!

Best money I ever spent. (sigh) The shine is all but gone now (sigh).

A yellow BD Speed 40 pack. It's tasty. A lot of people don't like how the "brain" is attached, but I love it.

Oh, yes, I forgot that I went to the cushy side of the force and bought belay gloves. 1/2 off at my gym! Considering I never wash my ropes, my hands have never been cleaner.
