If anybody cares, Crow Hill is mostly dry. Fisherman's wall is bone dry, a little seepage near Tarzan. Chockstone routes through Thin Line are wet, and a little seepage at the top of the practice face.

hmmm. I see a proposed welcom center and playground and picnic area. does this mean the zipline company is buying the area, and if so, will they start charging addmision to climbers, or restricting climbing access over liability concerns?

It's all still really prelim but the current proposal, DCR would still own the land so this outfit would just be leasing the rights for use, and according to the proposed zip line operator
In reply to:
Endriunas says his proposal is still at the conceptual stage, but says glide anchors would not interfere with current rock climbing practices. He adds that would provide amenities like bathrooms, a playground and additional parking.

Here's a link to his full proposal from the Friends of Blue Hills Website

Greetings rock dwelling types,
My wife and I recently moved into the New England area and are hoping to get back into climbing now that we have settled into our new home.
For regular day trips and short weekend, we are looking to stay in the Worcester and Boston areas. We need to refresh gear (our current ropes are 7 years old - not gonna trust those) but we hope we can get at least some new rope by the end of summer.
Would love to meet up with anyone for a crag or two. Families are encouraged - we will most likely bring our 3yr old daughter, as she wants to climb too.

Hey massholes

short backstory first
I'm from NH originally. I lived there for 20 years. I go to college and live in Arizona now. I got obsessed with climbing while in Arizona. I've only been climbing for about 6 months, but I absolutely love it. I'm living in Falmouth for the summer with my brothers family. My brother is starting an oyster farm and I'll be scuba diving with him on it all summer.

Anyway, what are the best routes within an hour or two of Falmouth? I can go pretty much anywhere on the cape and wouldn't mind going other places in mass for a day of climbing, as long as it's not more than a couple hours.

Also, if anyone is interested in climbing, let me know. I'd love to find a few people to go with. All I have are shoes, so bouldering is preferred unless you own more equipment.

edit: I've looked at the places listed around the cape and near me on the mainland. I'm looking for opinions of other cape climbers on the routes and other people to climb with.

Hi,

I don't know how to start a new thread, hopefully someone sees this! I'm Jen, and I'm looking for trad partners, hopefully around the same age (23-35). I can lead easy stuff (I'm a new leader) and I'd like to find people who can swing leads with me. I'd like to climb at the Gunks more. Hope to hear from people!

Jen

More people will see it if you post a new thread. Go here:

On the right, above 'Last Post', choose 'New Thread'.

Hope this helps, and I hope you find a partner!

Wow...after ten long years the "thread" is still strong. *sniff* I'm so proud of the MASS CLIMBERS!

My son is 8 years old now...my daughter is 4. Both are insane abobout climbing (everything). I feel that I have convaleced long enough and need to be more active with my kids. I'm thinking QQ next weekend for an outing.

Perhaps I'll see you (some of you) there...

Hey Mass-friends! I was wondering if any folks were headed to the gunks this weekend. I need a ride back on Sunday night (8/12) and would be willing to contribute gas money & food. Please shoot me a PM if you can help a climber out!

Thanks,
Tiffany

You might get more bites if you start an individual thread in the East Coast section. Also, sign up here for the Boston meetup group. They have jaunts to CR:

http://www.meetup.com/bostonrocks/

You might be able to get rides from folks to some of the group outings. The next place they are going is to Echo Crag, which is an excellent place to start learning the basics of trad.

Hi everybody. Looks like most of the massclimber people I once knew are long gone, but hello anyway.

It's been nearly a year since I moved to California. It's been a very interesting experience, definitely quite challenging and humbling.

Anyways, I realized how long it had been since I've caught up with my dear old rock climbing friends, and since I'm trying to stay connected to my beloved New England roots, I thought I should come back and see how you all are doing.

Hope to hear from those of you I know, and make new friends along the way. Cheers!
