Ok its time for the 2ed MN gathering, I'm going to let people make their own camping reservations this time.

Please respond here if:

-You plan to attend.

-you want to share a camp site.

-you need a ride or want to offer a ride

-if you have any questions post them here or message me or duskerhu

This should be a blast, if you have never night climbed its something you really should try, if it gets too hot there is a small lake to cool off in, the appraoch is fairly easy (flat) and the camp ground is very nice and wel shadded.

What is the set date for this. I will be there but just need to check that date off as a climbing date. I don't need to share or a camp site and i doubt i'll have room in the car to share. How long is the drive to blue mound? Is the campground really straight laced or pretty cool, cause i know some of my friends like to enjoy a few cold ones after a good day outdoors :):). Either way i am there thats all there is to it.

...and there are plenty of trees to set up Slack Lines!

And oh yeah, there's this part of the park, about a 2 mile cliff-line sticking up out of the middle of the prairie. We're gonna climb it! And you can't see much of it either til you get right up on it 'cus it looks like woods with the trees there from far away... I don't think nobody else knows 'bout it 'cept us.

NIGHT Climbing Les? Are you NUTS? Oh wait! We've done that before... I think I remember it was pretty dang fun! Bring yer head-lamps everybody!

Ok, I plan to attend!

I wanna camp site... kinda by the shower, or, by the fire pit, or well, somewhere in between... OH, with an extra little patch we can set the Nebraska Boys in...

Ah, I need a ride, or, I can provide a ride... Ummm, maybe I should give myself a ride... Yeah, that works.

If I have any questions, I'll PM myself, or, maybe Les can help me... Dude, did I bump my head at VE tonight?

But seriously people, this is a "must attend" event! You don't want Les and I to have all the fun do ya???

Oh and, if I didn't say it before, I vote to have this the weekend of the 27th of June.

The Nebraska Boys will be there of course! Look for us to have our sh*t together this year (read as: we'll be packing our own food and maybe even our own stove and cooler). We'll pay for the camp site this time Dann. I think you paid for it the last two trips. We're such moochers. Also, I got the slackline covered too.

I'll be there!!!

I'd like to share a campsite, and am planning on driving down after work on Friday (unless I take the day off - not sure yet). I can probably bring another person (or two) down there too. If anyone needs a lift, just let me know.

I am so totally there.. I have no clue about any of this stuff.. what is involved in sharing a site? or having my own? I might be able to provide a ride, I'm not sure if i can talk any of my friends to go with me. ( preferably of the female variety, and who likes to climb.) What do campsites cost? info is a good thing.

I don't know where the place is, but I want to go. I'll be living in Oshkosh WI, so if anyone needs picked up, I could probly do that.

HOLY CRAP, THATS 7.5 HOURS FROM MY PLACE. I gotta look into getting off work. Anyone from WI (or on the way from WI) wanna ride with?

And Yeah I want to share a camp site.

I will be there. I have a lead climb score to settle with Crazy Crack. I tried it last fall and got all freaked out and bailed when I was looking at exposure. I won't let it happen again. :x

Alright! Glad everyone is showing up here!

Josh, I just reserved a camp site so, when you get there, you are welcome to contribute... As for the "food... stove and cooler" well, I guess I'll believe that when I see it. I got chyer back if you "forget" that stuff and of course, will be a proud papa if you don't. And yes, bring the slack line!!! I'll bring the Bop-It. We'll see if we can slack ala rrradam with the Bop-It going... Yeah right!

rocksolid, you work too much! It's getting in the way of your climbing dude... I think you deserve to at least take that Friday off!

quickclips it takes me 3 to 3.5 hours to get to Blue Mounds from my house in St. Paul (near the capital) so, figure your time based on that. If you need specific directions, I think the website below has them or you can PM me and I can give you the best route from the cities.

pelliott, quit looking at that exposure and climb the rock... Commune with it; focus on it; make it bend to your will! (yeah, listen to the zen-master over here...)

For anyone interested in making reservations, you can call 1-866-85PARKS or you can make them on-line here... As of right this moment, there are 21 non-electric sites and 27 electric sites available for reserving... There is an $8.50 non refundable reservation fee and you'll need to pay the first nights camping to reserve a site but I think its worth the expense. Camping is $12 per night for the non-electric sites. So, I just reserved 1 non-electric site for Friday and Saturday nights, June 27 and 28 and it cost me $20.50. I will owe a balance of $12 when I show up on the 27th.

Well, I think that covers it for now... Mark your calendars, tell your friends, and everyone post-up so we know what's going on...

See ya soon

Ah, yer welcome Les...

Actually, it wasn't that tough though; I'd submitted that link for inclusion on the MN page quite some time ago so, it's also in the links section there.

Just call me Mr. Organized thank you...

(I wish I could "organize" my self a job that I could work in my jammies from home and would pay me three times what I make now so I could climb all the time!)

I'll probably be there (with a group of 4). I usually take a trip to Rushmore and the Tower that week as that is my only week off of work all summer. But do you guys think that a campsite reservation is necessary? I've only camped there once in February and of course I was the only one crazy enough to be there (but I was rewarded with a 60 degree day).

Well, you may want to keep an eye on the web site Sung... The camp ground gets busy there that time of year. May not be full with reservations a week or two out, but by Friday afternoon, there probably won't be any spaces left...

Dann, thanks for the link to the website. Made my reservation today. Hope they don't mind if I only put down 1 person on my reservation sheet and I show up with like 3 or 4..
How was climbing Friday?? Les, Dann, Louis?? good weather? How about all you weekenders? See you guys on Monday

I am very interested in coming, and have a few other friends who have expressed interest (we will probably have 4-6 people total) Invasion of the beginners!!

A couple questions to the more experienced...Is there a limit to how many people can stay in one campsite? Anything else I should know? I have been to Blue Mounds once on a school climbing trip but am only really familiar with Taylor's and Red Wing and the Gym of course.

We would probably take a half day off on Friday to drive down. I will likely drive and would be willing to offer rides depending on how many people come (my Impala comfortably seats 5) We are all from the Minnneapolis/St. Louis Park area.

Looking forward to meeting all of you!

There is a limit on the amount for people in a site but i'm sure you will be within limits, one limit you will want to know about is your only allowed 2 tents per site, be sure to make a reservation either on line or by phone so you can reserve a spot. we look forward to meeting you, if you have any other questions feel free too ask them here or PM duskerhu or myself

Hey drifter and amazingspiderman (what's wit dat longass name goof-ball?) (don't no body go raggin' on me now, I know that dork and I had to give him some sheet!)

Welcome to RC.com! Bring ALL yer friends! We're havin' a climb-a-thon at the end of June!

Hey Les, you too may know spidey there... Do you remember a kid I brought to VE from work named Travis? Young, tall, about a 120lbs soakin' wet, perfect climber type??? Yeah, he jumped back outta the wood work and wants to climb again. I bet if we train him right he can be our new rope gun.

Anyway, glad more people are responding! One day soon here we'll have to start to get a real count on who's going... I think we might have more than we had last year.

WOOOoo HOOOOoooo!!!

I should be able to make it, but the Warped Tour is coming to Sommerset on the 28th, and I'm also headed to that too. Some friends and I might hit up Blue Mounds-Warped-Blue Mounds, so if anyone wants to join us they're more than welcome. Should be a good time for any climber/punk fans out there. Let me know if you're interested.
