Forget it man, it's just a lame joke to go along with your lame joke.

I really like how everything has to be ONE OR THE OTHER. It can't be that I was on a hiking trip and ended up mixing in a bit of climbing knowledge. Nooooo...it has to be some plan or something or it doesn't count. What the hell kind of crap is that? That's so completely idiotic it's beyond any understanding.

Oh, and if you want me to solve your missing data thingy just pay me $50,000 and we'll talk.

This is definately something I can agree with.

Not for any other reason then I'm sick of hearing these higher then mighty attitudes of the people who think simply because they are EXPERIENCED I should bow down and praise them. Well how about I bend over and they can kiss my rear.

Actually, experience is what separates the men from the boys. I'd gladly bend over and kiss someones ass who was more experienced then me and was helping me learn. Although more then likely I'd just by them a beer. Dude you are messed up. Who the hell do you think you are. Some of these guys have been climbing for almost 20 years and if nothing else they are still alive. You really are an arrogant little shit. You are gonna be a little terror like one of those 12lb dogs when you actually do learn how to climb. Look up the definition of hubris like you did the definition of JT's question and tell me that doesn't fit your persona.

Actually, I'd pay you $50,000 to give climbing clinics and ethics speeches to other climbers. I'd get my moneys worth as they beat you down for your hubris.

I won't kiss anybody's rear just because they climb better then me, that's just sad man. Do you really need some idol to look up to? I sure don't.

Experience does not seperate the men from the boys, that's just stupid. Maybe in your world it does because you believe you're so high and mighty already. I think the higher altitudes have messed with your brain and it has you believing you're some climbing god to be worshipped by newbies. Get over yourself.

Oh.. and me hubris, well that's just ludicrous!

What he's going to be (besides a highly compensated research consultant, of course), if he ever climbs, is the annoying know-it-all kid who gets out of the car already wearing his helmet, carrying a full rack of shiny trad gear to the sport crag, with two ATCs on his harness (in case he drops the first), and a lovely new pair of Spires over his socks.

Well, it's either experience, or just pure raw talent because some of the climbers on this board do amazing, frightening things. I'd rather think it's experience because that gives me some hope...

You don't have to kiss someones ass because their better, but if they're better AND THEY'RE HELPING YOU LEARN, then it might be appropriate...

Better that then kissing some guys sweaty ass after he just did a 20 pitch because you think he's the god of climbing like Pico does.

If sport is all about hanging, I'll be working my way toward Trad thank you very much. So your smartbutt remark is backwards. It should be "He'll be taking all his sport gear to the Trad crag".

Experience does not automatically equate to knowledge. I won't blindly follow somebody simply because they have climbed for more years then me.

Ok, nonsensical and childish is what you are. You seem to have the reasoning skills of a monkey. No not one of those NASA monkeys either. Anyway, this thread was fun and I'm sure you'll continue to say stupid things throughout the post. I almost wish instead of locking the thread they'd make this a sticky thread so all could see your ignorance. It should be retitled "how begginers should not act." or better "how wannabe climbers should not act."

I don't know if I have climbing idols but I am intelligent enough to learn when I can. There is definitely nothing wrong with having and idol or role model or grown ups call them mentors. I'd definitely say I have been thoroughly amazed by better more skilled climbers talents, achievements, skills and experience. I might never have the talent but I can at least get the most out of experience and I can certainly learn from others experiences. Climbing is way more then just pulling a sucession of moves and that is what draws me to the sport. It's a thinking persons sport and you need to be sharp at all times because the risk are high. As far as high and mighty I really don't know what to tell you. It's hard to tell from a BB but most people I've climbed with in real life would tell you otherwise. I hope your real life persona differs from your online one because you are definitely one of the most obnoxious people I have ever encountered online or in real life.

Anyway, you can't sit here and call somebody you're argueing with a monkey unless you accept the same label.

You are right. I've always felt that when you argue with a retard you denegrate yourself to the status of retard. Shame on me (seriously).

BTW, if you haven't noticed it's not about being right or wrong. That part of the thread ended pages and pages ago. Hell I don't know if that ever was part of the thread. It's about making you look like the ass you are. Please I implore you to read the thread start to finish and realize you made a complete jackass out of yourself. I've never seen anyone so completely humiliate themselves. And the best part was we all got to laugh for the last few days at your expense. This in my mind has to be one of the top 10 threads in the history of newsgroups or bulletin boards. Kudos to you for a job well done (standing ovation please...I'll continue with my standing ovation after I hit submit).

what the heck does experience have to do with this thread?

the bottom line of this thread is whether or not you like climbing at a crowded sport crag.

Mhr hasn’t really developed an attitude of pro or con due to a lack of exposure to the environment. He was just voicing his initial impressions, maybe a little loudly. He did make a few technical comments without the experience to make them but the bulk of this thread is just a matter of personal preference.

On the other hand Jay is primarily a sport climber and his viewpoints come out of that background. (btw Jay is really a nice person.)

If there isn’t a crowd of people all of the issues go away, dogs won’t be as much of a problem, gear laying around won’t be as bad, and the routes won’t be as crowded.
