Yeah, but Rick, I now have TWO full sets of Hybrid Aliens. :wink:
I don't get the need for this new Alien. Of course, that doesn't stop me from coveting it, but to me the real need is for a size between the red and the ORANGE. Not the yellow/red. I'll have to see one for myself, I guess... :roll:

Beth.... I got the last one at DR and cannot locate anymore, though I am trying to get one for my partner.
I also ordered two offsets a few days ago. I have never used one but will try soon :)

i think DR had about 6 originally. Kate and I each bought one last night, and I think one had been bought before that (prolly beth's)....so, between last night and this morning, the other 3 had been snagged.
whew, just a bunch of gear whores in this town. heh. i'm only bummed because Kate and Beth get to try out their new aliens, and i have to wait because its all snowy and wet in RR! argh!!!!! another week before i can climb! argh! :x

Well, this baby arrived last Friday. I didn't have the chance to place it anywhere this weekend, but I did compare sizes of the yellow, gray, and red. My initial observation, as Wes mentioned, is that the range it covers is not very different from the red. The over lap with the Red Alien is signifiant and I think the need for this one is largely frivilous. It will probably be a niche piece for my rack when aiding, but I don't think I'll be bringing it along for many trad climbs. It's just redundant.
Now, if they start making one between the red and the orange, I think they'd be on to something. There's clearly a need for one between those two.

The Red and Orange overlap. There is no "hole" between the sizes.
Do you need a piece for every 1/16th increment?

Not if you are talking "useable range" find a 1.1" crack and your red will be about 60% open :( ,and your orange will be almost fully closed (90%) :? . I agree with the mysterious grey being "superfluous" but I'd like a red/orange (sunset) cross. This is actually a pretty awkward size for camalots as well. Red TCU probably works best.
