I was climbing indoors today and had my middle and ring fingers (left hand) jammed into a shallow hole. As I made the next reach with might right arm my foot slipped and I fell. Now it hurts to put any weight on the two fingers in the pocket . Sharp pain running from between my 1st (clossest to the palm) and second knuckles. The pain runs up to my finger tips and down to my wrist. Now that you have the background, here are my two questions. What exactly did I damage. And what can I do to help it so I can keep climbing. I assume its soft tissue damage so all I can do is wait for a few months while it heals. I'd usually just take the injured finger to a stronger one, but its my two strongest fingers that are injured. Thanks in advance for any advice

With that much pain, it sounds like you better see an orthopod. I injured my tendon pulley, but didn't have anywhere near the kind of pain you're describing. It sounds like you might have a serious injury. -Jay

Bad news...you shouldn't be climbing for awhile. It sounds like the same thing I did mid Janurary, and I'm just starting to feel over 90% now. If you have to climb , tape the fingers that are tweaky, and espically the wrist - that seemed to help the most. Get to a doctor. Oh yeah, one that knows what they're talking about. The one I went to laughed me off, told me to see a specialist. So, better said - see a specialist. From everything I've kind of put together, I messed up a tendon, not a muscle. Rest hard...
