Before I start I want to say that I'm not interested in hearing about your opinions what ever they are on bolting, I simply want to find information. I was curious if there was a Place somewhere in the Midwest, or Minnesota that teaches how to place bolts, perhaps as a part of some class. I want to learn how to properly place bolts. Now I want you all to know that I'm not planing on going on a bolting spree and wrongfully bolt every route I feel like. I just think that perhaps in a few years I may run into a situtaion where I might need to place a bolt, perhaps in case of emergency, and I want to have the skill and knowlege on how to do it properly.

Find the ASCA (American Safe Climbing Assc.) web site, they tell a bit about it. I found it for you. http://www.safeclimbing.org/ [ This Message was edited by: radistrad on 2002-04-03 16:52 ]

I think that you would agree that reading something off a website is not a substitute for learning to do it first hand. You would not go trad climbing after reading about how to place gear in a book, would you?

I agree, but its the best I can do from California. Hopefully its a start. I know for a fact that the ACSA has had bolting clinics in Yosemite and Tuolumne. Maybe they will in your area. Good luck...
