I flew from Chicago to Osaka, to Bangkok, to Chiang Mai to Bangkok to Hanoi then from Phnom Penh to Bangkok and finally back to Chicago the summer before last and my ticket(s) totaled about $1,500.00 So I'd imagine of you're just going to Bangkok your flight would be much less than that. I used a travel agencey, or my g/f did, http://www.aviatravel.com

Just flew LAX to Bangkok to Railay for $850 on JAL. Layover in Osaka. We booked the flights in November so the prices are probably different now. East coast probably makes it more expesive- farther to fly.

Use your head. Since you're smart enough to find rockclimbing.com, apparently you know of this thing called the internet? Maybe try Travelocity.com? cheaptickets.com? Orbitz? Hotwire?

I think we paid just under $3k for two tickets from Boston. The earlier you get our tickets, the better price you will get. If you get the Lonely Planet Guide or the Rough Guide, you can find some good web resources on 'how to get there'.

In reply to: 3k for 2? Hell, I found an August ticket on Travelocity for $600. August is also the worst time of year to go.

It's definitely the off season. But I dug it. I still got to climb, it wasn't too hot, and it only rained one day. But I was mostly cruising around the country, not climbing. Plus, it was cheap.

In reply to: 3k for 2? Hell, I found an August ticket on Travelocity for $600. Jeez, that's cheap. Ours was off season, too (mid June to early July). But we had to fly to CA and then get on another plane. $600, round trip? I'm doing more research next time!
