I'm planning a trip to TN next weekend to do some sport climbing and it looks like the weather forecast isn't going to be too favorable. It's still pretty far out to be accurate, but I think I'm still going to go even if it does rain because my full weekends off are few and far between. I'm planning on hitting up Foster Falls or the Obed, depending on the weather. My question is, do they both have good caves/roofs areas that stay dry in the rain? I've been to Obed before, and I'm sure the Steven King Library will be dry...anyone know if the Solstice Cave stays dry too? Also, I see there are two cave/roof areas at Foster Falls (Right/Left Bunker?)...can I expect these to be reasonably dry in the rain? Any beta would be awesome, I just want to make sure I have enough to work on to justify the 5 hour drive and 60 bucks in gas I'm going to spend. Thanks, nate

The solstice cave should stay quite dry during the rainy season. At Foster's however, it is a bit more hit and miss. Most routes will have damp spots, but a few will be dry. Good luck and happy climbing. RJ

Check out King's Bluff. It's further to the North Est part of Tennessee...and might be dry. PM for info.

I've never climbed at Foster's in the rain, but the Obed might be your best bet.... I looked at the weather and it looks about 50/50... good luck and have fun!

Tieranny Wall (The Obed) is great. Three 5.10s and a boatload of 12s & a few 13s. The harder routes are pretty long. If the sun comes out there are several really nice 11s you can jump on and the wall heats up nicely. The key to tieranny is getting there without getting lost.

I would go to tieranny. There are some awesome climbs. If you can climb 12's then that would be an awesome place to go.

i went to fosters recently the morning after a rain, and we found little dry. a 9 past the red light district, rode hard and put up wet a 10, another 10 called fish eyed fool, the 8 (bear something something ) and 10 up on that block.. forget the name of it but they're the only two climbs there and they're pretty obvious... and then the bunkers were dry as well if you could doany of those.
