Ok i have been campusing in my local rei, (i cant get outside, no partners, and the gym is like 1.5 hrs away) so i climb at rei. I campused the first 8 feet of a overhanging route. I did really good, so my friend, who works there belayed me on the route but i campused it, got about 15-20 feet befor my arms burnt out, then i just finnished the climb with legs. I thought that was good for campusing, maybe i am wrong. I was just wondering how high others have campused.

well... It really just depends on how big the holds are. I have campused up an entire 30 foot route at my gym with big holds but then there is another spot i can't even do a move without feet so it just really depends. If however there were bars leaning at about 110 degrees from the floor(backwords towards you so your feet don't hit it) then i could probably go for quite a while. Needless to say 15 feet is still very good. I do campusing to get myself worn out before i go home and becaue i dont' have time to do weights for my arms.

Campusing (not called that) on various types of inverted ladders, artificial ledges, etc. has been around since the late 1700s. But did you know that one-arm campusing has been around since at least the late 1800s? Strongmen like the great Sandow performed on the oblique ladder. I did a little of this in the 1950s, but the most recent such activity I'm aware of was when Chris Jones (the boulderer, not the Brit author) worked on such feats: Chris Jones 8^)
