let's just say i'm in pain, at first i couldn't lift the leg period...now i'm on day 3 and it's feeling better, just a pull not anything leg destroying, but now i need tips on streching or anything (all i have now is butterfly stretch which is hard to even get set up in right now) if you've experienced this before please, any advice on how to get better a little quicker!

go see a doctor and probably a physical therapist.

i have chronic problems with the hip adductor tendons, particularly on my left side. it didn't get better until i went to a physical therapist. turns out my glutes were very underdeveloped for some reason, and that was causing a lot of strain on the tendon. spent 6 months religiously following an exercise program to fix the imbalance, and now i am much better.

stretching without proper warmups, as well as without getting to the root of the problem will not help you, and may make things worse.

Now i just went to smith rock and i was hiking for a bit and it started to hurt. my advicec is go see a doctor because i have no idea what's going on

I don't think doctors will be able to say much besides "stay off of it and use ice/heat" or whatever the standard treatment is for pulls. See a sports doctor or some other specialist.

*The following is based on my experience and is no substitute for professional advice*

I pulled (or strained, not sure) my groin twice in the past...once while doing an arete (squeezing with feet inwards) and the other while getting super low on a face move, kinda squatting but keeping hips as close to the rock as possible, feet far far apart. Both times I felt it pop...I never saw a doctor.

Basically, I recommend to stay off of it for a while until it feels better, then gradually start stretching lightly and doing very light exercise. Very very light exercise, and nothing directly involving the muscle group besides light stretches.

Both times that this happened to me, I kept walking/running and even climbing afterwards, but attempting to be careful of my groin. At some points this caused it to become sore again. It took weeks to heal completely.

This was a couple of years ago, and since then I have religiously kept up with doing yoga, especially stretches and exercises for the groin (the best seems to be butterfly stretch, and whatever it's called when you spread your legs far apart and then bend to touch the ground).

After it recovers, gradually start increasing the flexibility and strength of those muscles...your groin can never be too flexible or strong. Avoid intense flexibility moves on the rock before you're warmed up (both times I hurt myself, it was the early morning and I wasn't warmed up).

The most important thing is not to rush your recovery...these muscles are used so much with everyday activities that it takes a loooongggg time to recover. Maybe consider only doing upper body strength training (hangboarding or something) for a few weeks until you can begin stretching the groin again.

I pulled mine almost two months ago. I have been wearing an elastic bandage when I climb. You should be able to find one at the local sports store. They make several sizes so get one that is tight but now so uncomfortable that you are not able to wear it for several hours at a time. I imagine you can also use the ace bandage wrap tape but with the pull on models you do not have to worry about it coming undone and its easy to take on and off.
Depending on how bad you stressed the muscles down there it might take several months to fully recover.

most likely illiopsoas injury. so called groin pulls would effect your adductors, which don't have much to do with hip flexion. pain usually radiates down towards the knee. what u rae describing is pretty much tipical illiopsoas injury. go and see pt or massage therapist, who work with athletes. quite easy fix, but painful. can't do it over the internet, actually you'll have to move your behind and see someone

My best advice is stay off it and don't push it. I hurt mine a while ago and tried to stretch it daily and get back to it and almost immediately hurt it again. I laid low for a couple weeks and it got better.

what do you mean stay off? you use your iliopsoas or adductors any time you take a step. go and have it treated.
