I can be there anytime. Does look like it is gonna rain all day though now. If weather.com isn't showing rain I'll be there at 2 then. Will probably be there Sunday also.

I'll check weather.com on Saturday and, if the prospect of rain is very serious, I'll assume you won't be climbing. I think I'm free Sunday too and, if Saturday doesn't work, I can climb then. In the spirit of informed consent, I gotta tell you, I'm a real newbie. Better to learn that now than on the rock. I'm comfortable on 5.6 and some 5.7 but that's about it. I'm working on it but my legs have a long way to go (so to speak). On the other hand, I'm really comfortable belaying and take it really seriously. Are you okay with climbing with a newbie? If not, it's okay, my feelings won't be hurt.

Sunday may be much better ---- zero percent chance of rain as opposed to fifty percent chance of rain on Saturday.

Saturday is out. I'll be there Sunday though. Usually get there around 9 or 9:30. I'll climb with anyone that is safe.

As far as I know, I can go on Sunday. If not, would you like me to call and let you know I can't be there? got a cellphone? How will I know who you are? I won't be hard to identify - I'll be one of the few women climbers there on their own. :)

To mentalbelayer and others ... My Mom and sister live in Lebanon, so I come up that way a few times a year. I like to do Fosters, but would enjoy meeting people at other places. I have done 5.5 and 5.6, failed at 5.8 big time, and have yet to try 5.7. I can't find partners on my schedule, so my last 3 outdoor climbs have been TR solo. I love the solitude and I'm very safety oriented, but I would also enjoy some company occasionally. Next trip to Foster will be (tentatively) June 26. Keep me in mind, please.

Will do, oldsalt. Don't imagine there's much outdoor climbing around Jacksonville. Foster Falls is always a treat.

Whoa! In my enthusiasm, I forgot the basic rule of safety for women - don't go out in the woods to look for men you've never met before! The rule has variations of course but the message is the same. Sorry about that. You seem great but I need to get to know you before being out in the wilds - even though there are usually lots of folks at KB. Do you ever climb indoors? ClimbNashville (the West End gym) is nearby and pretty nice. Let me know if you ever get into town. Maybe we could climb then. Maybe on a rainy weekend. Hope this doesn't leave you in a pinch.

In reply to: I like to do Fosters, Just curious as to what you guys/gals do at Foster's? Are there any routes in that range? Going by the last guide book there are like three I think, most route are 9 and up, more of the and up. In that range you guy should deffinately make a trip to King's. By the by the bluff was mostly wet, but there were a few dry spots we found. Birthday Boy 5.10a and Here and Now 5.12a or close to that anyway. I have holes in my fingers and bloodstains on my knee, Yes it was a good day of climbing. My offer stands. Anyone that wants to climb at King's shoot me a pm and say when, if I don't already have plans, I am always game, And I don't mind climbing with "Newbies" either.
In reply to: I forgot the basic rule of safety for women - don't go out in the woods to look for men you've never met before! I have enough Women trouble without taking on more at the crags. Like I said my offer stands, and I don't climb indoor accept for the occasional comp. Later, Steve (EDITED TO ADD) Next Saturday is looking like a good day to climb as of now. Who's up for it?

The attraction to Fosters at this point is that I plan to do my first sport lead on Afterburner. Once done, I will be very interested in shopping at King's Bluff on a later date. So the plan is for my daughter and myself and probably others to be at Fosters mid-morning on Friday June 25 or Saturday June 26. TENTATIVE AT THIS TIME.

Old Salt, I would be glad to climb with you at Foster's in June. I'm 34 and it would be great to climb with someone my age instead of the youg guns that I normally climb with. I live near King's Bluff, but it would be great to climb at the falls. PM if interested.
