In reply to: They will not let you have both free shipping WITH % coupon anymore. From STP: Thank you for your recent order and comments via our website. This email is regarding the 20% discount and free shipping riddle that you requested be applied to your order. Please be assured, the 20% discount was automatically applied to your purchase. Both discounts were advertised without our authorization. We will, however, honor the 20% discount, and we have issued a $5.00 gift certificate which can be used on your next order. You should receive the certificate via regular mail in 7-10 business days. We appreciate your understanding, and thank you for shopping with us. Sincerely, Customer Service Sierra Trading Post

You guys got screwed! I ordered a tent from them Friday to give as a gift, used the 20% and the riddle and got this response: Thank you for your recent internet order. Congratulations you did get the riddle answer correct on your order and as promised you have received free ground shipping on your order. For future reference please be aware that due to changing discount trigger methods in the near future you will not be able to receive the free shipping riddle answer discount in conjunction with any other catalog or email discounts. We appreciate your business. Sincerely, Naomi Customer Service Sierra Trading Post

Sierra Trading Post must have seen a recent surge in the usage of free shipping riddles, with strangely identical answers (thanks to copy and paste). They must be onto us...

In reply to: Five-Ten Anasazi's at Sierra Trading Post for $70. Reno, post a link to these. I am looking through their site right now, and all I see are the 5.10 Mesa's and the T-rocks.

I hate to sound like a Richard here, but between this place and Fatwallet, among others, I kinda hate to see STP get nickle-and-dime screwed from every angle. If STP starts to feel the hurt from all these concessions, that would be a very bad thing for the outdoor products market on the whole. They really do a great job at keeping prices down and shipping reasonable, so I would urge everyone reading this to please choose EITHER free shipping OR 20% off, depending what works better for you. Don't browbeat a good, solid outdoor retailer over a few bucks here and there, that ultimately comes off their bottom line. I have nightmares about STP becoming REI...

In reply to: R to the E to the I. The company you love to hate. Why so much hate? It turns out Sportiva Mythos were an unadvertised special at $89.99: http://www.rei.com/online/store/ProductDisplay?storeId=8000&catalogId=40000008000&productId=1130&parent_category_rn=4500676& ... not to mention the other advertised sale items... Mammut ropes, Mad Rock Flash, Mad Pad, etc.

I don't hate them at all, I live in NoVA and it's the only place to buy gear (well, except for HTO and EMS, the other, inferior REI's). Staff are always cool, and as a company they've kept close to their roots even though they've gotten ginormous. Sure it's a yuppie fleece emporium, but I'll put up with a little bit of that for the ability to go finger C4's and aliens on my lunch break. I'm not going to choose to support them rather than paying less on the net, but they've definately been there for me plenty of times and I've never been unhappy with the price. -T

La Sportiva Barracudas with Free Shipping and free Returns for $109.99. http://www.zappos.com/n/p/p/7138250.html Unfortunately today is the last day that the barracudas are on sale. I ordered mone last night at about 9PM EST and opted for the free 4-5 day shipping. I got to work this morning to find that the shoes are already in the mail and they upgraded the shipping to two day air for free. My friend who told me about this place ordered, received a pair he fealt was too tight, returned them and received replacements in about a week. Pretty nice. Anyway- I'm told they usually have one shoe on special at all times so here's the index of rock shoes: http://www.zappos.com/n/es/d/722101387.html
