Yes - but if you get out and climb a lot and also go to events and slide shows your bound to meet people.

Sharma is to appear here in Austin,Tx on October 18th and 19th. He is going to help/set routes, no compete, with a bouldering COMP at the local gym and then to introduce his new video "Pilgrimage". There was only 200 tickets and all were sold in like 2 or 3 days.

Chris used to live accross the street from me in Rovanna. He moved out about when I moved in, but I got to talk with him some, he's super mello and a really nice guy. There seems to be more than just rocks in his head. Some folks say he's a bit spacey, but that's just california!

In reply to: Yo man First of all, you've never climbed with Ben, Jason, or Matt because they all despise you. Maybe you saw them at the gym, but they all despise you. Stop making false statements and fake credibility. Thanks Why in God's name would you bring back such a lame thread from 2 years ago.

I met him back in March at my local climbing gym here in Osaka Japan. I am Canadian, but have made Osaka japan my home for the last several years. i walked in and was aproached by one of the workers to act as a translator. Despite the fact that japanese sucks and that neither he or any of the Japanese are big talkers. They, the Japanese local climbers, kept in the distance watching him almost imperceptiply from the periphery with an occasional 'Sakoi'(amazing). It was funny how quite the gym was and how unpopulated the bouldering area was. Usually it is chock a block full of people jossling for the next go and full of shouts of 'combare'. When I asked for who they pointed him out. To be honest I have only read a dozen mags over the last three years(which is how long I have been climbing) but I of course new who he was. Half the climbing videos they have playing constantly in the background at the gym star him, and as well have the posters sticking to any climbing wall featured him climbing some problem or other. Anyway the thing that struck me with him was something I have noticed about most truly good climbers I have met will finish and edit this later got to go teach

I know Chris. Both as a climber, and as a friend. To me he is the most genuine, humble, and generous person I have ever met. He has as much fun watching me on a 5.10 as I do watching him on a V13. jl

[quote MACUALTED Bull corn. I was working in Tuolumne when all the legends were swarming. Did I go to the big party in the campground where Lynn Hill was? No. Did I take off work to watch Sharma send his problem behind Puppy Dome? Nope. Did I slather over Ron every time I saw him? Nope. Very few of my friends did, as well. quote] --It doesn't follow to not want to meet one of the great climbers of our time...such as Lynn Hill, Ron Kauk, or Chris Sharma. It would be, for lack of a better word..."neat" to meet them. I don't necessarily think worship has anything to do with it. Their accomplishments, w/in a sport that means so much to me, are nothing less than amazing. --I never think about these guys when I am not reading about them in a mag or something. However, I will absolutely admit that if I had the chance to meet one of them, have a conversation with them, or hang out with em, I would totally be all about that. How fun would that be!! hmm this thread is OLD....
