Where are you people!? I want to hear stories of the latest and greatest!
As for me... an exhausting 3-day marathon at Fontainebleau last weekend. Finally found a decent margarita (more likely I was just that tired and thirsty!). Slept under a big rock with 4 loudly snoring walruses... ahem... I mean men. Flashed enough red problems to boost my ego (until the next day when I got bucked off by everything I touched :cry: )... and finally- today- saw the photos we took in which there lurks something alarmingly large that has turned out to be (no, not a hippo) - my ass - from what can only be described as an unflattering ground-angle (is that a wide-angle lense?). :shock:
What have you people been up to?

Hi girldrifter!
Nice to see you 'round again, Fontainbleau must be a gas!
Been quite lazy lately, means I bouldered a lot in the park (did I mention I hate concrete...) and did some climbing on the towers in the city.
Will be leaving for a short trip to the Morgenbachtal (Bingen at the Rhine River) tomorrow. So at least I get some real rock under my fingers :D
Wish I could make it to 'bleau even bouldering is definetly not my favorite. Up the wall is where I belong! But there should be enough climbing in the area to get some stuff done...

Well, bouldering around the city sounds like fun anyway. Especially in Berlin... which I have yet to visit! Any good pictures? :D You should at least make it over here soon and we'll drag you off to Freyr, the local crag!

Do you know about the camping in Freyr? Do you have to be a member of the alpine club of Belgium or what? I will be going there with some freinds from Trier on the 1st and 2nd of Aug.

It's mostly a long traverse but there are also some (not defined) problems to get up.
Besides that... what pictures? You hopefully don't wanna have me looking for pictures of the Brandenburger Tor or the Reichstag?!? Boring tourist stuff...
If you manage to get to Berlin, just drop me a line. As you might guess I'm a really bad tourist guide but I know lots of nice places to hang out in the sun 8^)
As Belgium isn't that far, there might be a chance for me to get there. You're just the first one I heard talking about climbing there :shock: Ever thought it was pure flat like the Netherlands...
The Morgenbachtal isn't that far from you either. Hard to describe the beauty of that place as every time you reach the top you get that sight over the Rhine river... Nice!

Hmmm...I had a very similar experience...
One day bouldering at 'bleau, flashed some super easy problems, cursed my lack of wingspan compared to other people of similar height ;), slept amongst boulders (thankfully no walruses).
just saw pics and realized that i've gotten even fatter than previously suspected from lack of activity.... :oops:
Oh wait - I was with you ;)

Yes, unfortunately to climb or camp at Freyr you are supposed to be an Alpine club member. That said - I am no such member, nor do I intend to become one- I loathe clubs. But I have climbed at Freyr at least 5 weekends this summer with no issues. If you're going with 4+ friends it's worth it to stay in the hotel in Anseremme called the Aquatica- for 70 Euros you get a room for 5 (which easily fits 7 if you're willing to camp on the floor). Don't stress about the alpine club stuff- I don't think they can arrest you or anything :wink: Let me know if you want more beta. Guidebooks are cheap and pretty good at the restaurant near the crag :)

Bef- at least you have an excuse. I climb 4x per week and I still managed to gain 10 kilos over her. :twisted: AAAAARGH :twisted:

Yup, seems so. Just had a look at the pics in the database... Not that I could anything of the shown, but it looks like a very nice place!
I'm just around the corner (near düsseldorf at the German/Dutch border) in two weeks, but unfortunatly my step brother decided to marry so I'm stuck in family affairs :evil: Didn't get some holidays, so it's a lot of travelling for (almost) nothing.
How long will you stay in Beligium? Maybe I manage to get something arranged in the later sommer months...

I live here permanantly (or until I marry some climbing Euro-hottie and move somewhere less flat...). So, come on over anytime. I'm in the Dolomites from 22.07-26.07 and then Chamonix 12.08-15.08. :D :D Other than that, I'm bound to be found at Freyr... :roll:
As enticing as your boulder looks... I think I'll save my trip to Berlin for a non-climbing party-weekend... :wink:

aynway, im just waiting for the rain to stop since i havent climbed outside in 14days or so (i was in poland for almost a week (sunday-thursday) on a u2 concert, then i was too tired and hung over to climb, then it rained). looks like my luck is about to improve this weekend.

Wow, cool pics! Shit man, how close were your seats? Those must have cost a fortune! They came here (BXL) a couple of months ago, but I think tickets were sold out like a couple of years in advance.
