Does anyone have any information on the injury/fatality that occurred in Joshua Tree on Sunday Sept 4th? Group of 3 climbers in Lost Horse behind DQ Wall. One was airlifted out.
Any information would be appreciated.

I assume you're referring to the Saturday, 9/3 accident. Our group of 7 was at Shorter Wall when one in our party fell a total of about 20 feet injuring his back. Because of possible back and head injuries, he needed to be carried out, and the half-mile scramble back to the cars would have been a nightmare to haul a litter, not to mention in the encroaching darkness, so a chopper pulled him out. I'll leave it up to him to post an accident report if he'd like. Despite some nasty road rash on his back and a few broken tranverse process bones in three lumbar vertebrae (relatively minor - no danger to spinal cord), he had no serious injuries and walked out of the hospital the next morning.

Thanks guys

Turns out that one of my partners works with the guy who got injured. He says he will make 100% recovery.

Yeah it was a friend of mine... I don't have a lot of details yet, and have asked him for more. He is a member on this site tho so hopefully he will post up some details.

All I know is

"If you're curious, I broke the transverse
process
on the 3rd through 5th vertebrae in my lower back"

and that he should make a full recovery
