Well the thing is i'm not sure, but i'd like to go v.cheap. In the riverside area what sort of things are availible? Is it just apartments in gated communities? or are there rooms in houses? Whats the general thing done by low/mid income people or students? N

the cheapest thing ive heard of is sharing an apt with friends. i have a lot of bro's doing that, and theyre paying between $3-400. if you're looking to get your own place, its a lot more expensive, especially if your looking for a gated community.

I am a graduate student in Engineering at UCR. If you are interested in gym climbing at Hangar 18 (http://www.climbhangar18.com/), you are welcome to carpool with my friend and me. We climb Tuesday and Thursday nights from about 8:00pm to 9:30pm. The UCR climbing club (http://groups.yahoo.com/...p/climbingclubatucr/) is also a good place to meet other climbers. They try and boulder up at Mount Rubidoux on Thursday afternoons and climb elsewhere on a few weekends per year. Take care, Ronnie Munoz

I'm from Redlands (near enough to Riverside) but if any of you want a climbing partner shoot me an email. I can lead up to .11 but am super happy having a chill day on .8 or .9. I climb pretty much every weekend and am dying to head up to Barstow to see and climb NJC.

NEIL - a word of advice. Don't associate with anyone who uses the word "Bro" in a sentence. Like everyone was warning you in the other thread: Riverside will suck you in and turn you into a raised-truck driving, dirt bike riding, cheap beer drinking piece o' trash. But do indeed check out Hangar 18, in Upland. Great routes, great bouldering, very relaxed atmosphere.

Yes I am an elitist little bitch. After 21 years of living in the 909, I'm up to my ass in "bros." It's nice to get out here to school in O.C. Not too many rasied trucks; no "skin" stickers on everything; no coors lite. good times.

I'm an ME grad student at UCR and currently climbing more in Yosemite so depending on your level of climbing send me a PM. You can always take your shoes to school and climb the Olmstead pebble wall. Its pretty tough to top out depending on how the mortar wants to act on the given day. We've been having fun out at Big Rock in Perris lately. Planning a few big wall trips in a few months if that strikes you as being fun.
