Hey all, I'm trying to find out what the standard length for a Cordelette is. I tried the forum search and all I got was talks of Cordalettes without definitions of their lenghts or people using the word Cordalette in place of the word Prusik. As far as the standard length for an actual Cordelette, I've gotten everything from 17 feet to 20 and 30 feet. What do you all think?

I use 7mtrs of 7mm, which is a little over 22 ft (i think).

Depends on your use, if you frequently have spread out or 4 or more points then longer may be nice but average is closer to 20-22 feet of cord. You can always double it up for 2 points, but it is a bit cumbersome like that.
Personally, having used both I strongly prefer a webolette, I don't like the bulk of cord.

A lot of people use 20 foot lengths. Last one I bought was 25 or 26 feet and I really like having the extra length. Not too much more extra bulk and can really helps with those spread out placements.
But you'll have to figure out what works best for you and where you climb.

I had 30' of 7mm or 8mm perlon, can't remember which. But I also use it for toprope anchors. Rather bulky but it works.

The MRA preached quite a few years ago that the proper length in SAR operations is 33'. But then it's also used for a load-release-hitch or radium-release hitch. Personally I like a 24'er and a 18'er. When tied they're approx. 11.5' and 8.5' respectivly which make nice lengths beyond the 6', 4' and 2' Spectra slings.....

I started out using a 17 footer which I found to be too short a lot of the time. Since then I have been using 25-30 footers.

Jesus! Are you also one of those folks with 15 or 20 or more cams you drag up everything? What the hell do you need all that crap for? More gear won't necessarily keep you more safe.

Mine is six meters or seven meters, I forget. It has never been too short. Not once in seven years. Of course if one arm was too short, simply add a sling. That sling is equivalent to an additional four feet of cordelette, and is a hell of a lot more multi-purpose!

I use a 30 foot cordelette and use it for three piece anchors/belays. That seems to work for me. I have one nylon and one spectra. Less talk, more climbing.

Not quite sure of the length of mine. I have two at 7mm and I'd say they're about 25-30 feet. I've equalized four pieces with them, so they can't be too short. When I was younger I used to carry a length of cordelette that when doubled over and then doubled over again, would sling over my shoulder, but eventually I grew out of that.... or I guess, found it more efficient to carry it tied to my harness.
I've used a webelette and also find them very useful. Much less cumbersome and sometimes quicker to set up.

I use a Wild Country 10mm dyneema sling that's 400 cm long. That works out to a hair over 13 feet in a loop. It's perfect- way stronger than 7mm cordage or 5.5 spectra/aramids because it's not tied- rated to a full 22 kn. Plus, it's not bulky at all- it packs down much smaller than my 5mm tech cord cordalette- and it's about 4 feet longer looped.
