I' going to be up in Meadview, AZ at the end of May. I'm looking at suggestions for climbing areas in that region. They don't need to be large areas but do to lack of time and gear it will have to be sport routes or boulders only. Red Rocks doesn't look too far away??? Any thoughts would be awesome...................

It's gonna be warm anywhere near that part of AZ. Since you lack time and gear, you'll be better off going to Red Rocks to chase the shade. If you had gear and liked cracks, I'd say head to Paradise Forks. It's cool enough and about 2.5 hrs away.

Thanks man, actually my limitations are with my partner, I can get the gear, and I'll be out there for about 10 days. I don't know what I'll do with the heat though...................

There are a couple of choices for you that are close to meadview
1. Golden Valley- with climbs rated from 5.5 to 5.11. This area is heavily bolted and a great little area to spend a day be careful though since you are not used to climbing on desert rock.
2. Hualapais - This area has bolts and has enough granite to spend a few years. My friends and I have climbs set up on Aspen peak, but there is a good 2 mile approach. This area is perfect during the summer though as it is at 8000ft. Each of these areas is within about a 40 minute drive from meadview. And that is if you drive really, really slow. If you go to the hualapais bring pro, if you go to Golden Valley, bring more draws than pro.
