i just recently started feeling some pain in my ring finger, and im pretty sure i did something to the tendon. every once in a while when climbing i get a sharp blast of pain, but other than that it just aches a little. has anybody been there or have any advice?

I have had the same thing happen. Generally, if it hurts quit climbing. I know it sucks, but the sooner you take time off, the sooner it will hopefully heal and you can get back on the rock. I was stupid about mine and it took about a year to heal fully. Jake

As it is allways posted in this kind of topic by someone, the best advice you can get is "SEE A DOCTOR!"... I'm gonna have to see one to because of my shoulder, and till then, i'm not climbing.

Try to keep it buddy taped even when your not climbing. I've found that imobilizing it constantly helps the speed up thehealing.

Yep, see a doctor. They can tell you what's going on exactly, how long it may take to heal, and what to do and not do in the meantime. You could also try hooking up with a physical therapist to work those muscles safely while you heal.
