Anyone out there know of a company that can sew a spectra sling onto an old cam. Im at the point where I need to replace the old nylon runner on some camalots.

Yates redid my whole rack a couple years ago and words can barely describe how happy I've been with the results. They even did custom lengths for me at no additional charge other then for the extra webbing.

Yeats is certified to make those 22kN stitches, they put a little tag on that says so.
Their work is perfect, and as I recall, they won't allow you to special order anything that is really stupid, LOL.

i sent my camalots to BD and they put new ones on for free. not sure what they would do with cams that weren't camalots though. if they charge you, a cheaper idea is to just buy some cord or webbing and tie it yourself. its perfectly safe. the only "downside" would be that there probably is no liability towards the company if the cam breaks because you have altered the product. but, just tying on a 7 or 8mm cord is fine from a safety standpoint.

i'd like to here the explanation for that one since a properly tied of 8mm cord has about the same breaking strength as sewn spectra.

I havent got much time right now but check this link for starters. http://www.climerware.com/resling.shtml -I guess it depends how you tie it as knots have various breaking strengths. Also, any knot will be weaker than sewn nylon or dyneema or the like, plus cord is narrow and will not distribute force as evenly in the event of a fall and maybe damage the cam or cut the cord. I will look for more evidence and other opinions as i am curious now. I know if i was leading i would want sewn instead of tied off cam slings

Must admit, I'm a little curious, myself. Did you try to replace your trigger wires with 12mm Spectra tape? Did you want 22kN-spectra pull-up tabs for your underwear? Spectra coffee mug? A car that runs on Spectra? What?
