An apology to brent. Brent, I did not mean to brag or spray on your thread. I merely meant to get you fired up for some rock climbing shenanigans! Or ice, which it sounds like you canadians enjoy. I only use the stuff to line my beer cooler myself. Maybe you can regale us with some tales of fishing glory? Cheers! Your pal, CI 8^)

It is good to see the humour returning. And we want pictures of actual fish, (and not one of those frozen, packaged one's from the store) to prove you went fishing. I was not a Brent_e today since I got in my eight hours on the rock.

No. In reply to: I bet when Val finds out she will be trying to take the hammer from me so she can get in a few swings. aaaaaaahahahahaha yeah, she doesn't seem to mind. When i told her Rebecca and i are going away next weekend i just mentioned that "i'm taking the other girlfriend climbing." and yes, Nate, i'm all talk. I was daydreaming about some ice routes cutting the grass today, though. Freakin summer better come to an end soon so i can not climb in the wintertime. Brent

In reply to: Maybe we should see if this Val climbs? You only have to climb once and you might be a Brent_e. The surfing sounds great. Maybe I can talk my partner into a weekend of Cali surfing one of these days. it's bloody hot here, too. Too hot. Val climbs on occasion. She doesn't seem to mind bouldering but we don't really climb often together - it just doesn't jive for some reason, which sucks a lot. this is she: http://mishilo.image.pbase.com/...our_filteredcopy.jpg Caughtinside. thanks for dedicating the wave to me. It makes me want to give you a hug and then vomit. Brent

In reply to: for anyone....i have to choose between a couple beal jokers, or a new lense for the camera. I'm thinking i'm going to get the lense. what do you think? Brent Definitely go with the lens. You already have too much climbing gear you don't use. Maybe at least you could use the lens to take a picture of these "fish" you always claim to be "fishing" for. Even if you did climb, WTF would you do with a couple of Jokers?

Your pal, CI 8^)  sorry about the vomit comment! and brag all you want!!! i don't own this damned thread. I'm getting fired up for some climbing, finally. It's been a long hiatus, but i think i'll get a bit done before the end of the summer. Not as much as i would have hoped, but i have too many hobbies. fishing glory. hmmmm. Dad and i have been fishing together since I could walk. When i was 3 or 4, my dad tells me, i caught a 7 pound pickerel (walleye to some). I don't know how true that is but I believe it's no fish tale. :D Lately we've been fishing salmon. It seems that trying to get these fish is what my dad and myself really enjoy and what we wait for every year. A few years ago this started, and we've been into it heavily ever since. 2 or 3 years ago we got a decent spring fish that we entered in a derby that lasted 121 days. The prize for this derby was 1000 bucks each day for the big fish of the day. The fish we got was 21 pounds, and the next day while in the boat my cell fone rang and I was told the happy news that it was the largest that day! A nice little bonus, that was. But splitting the money with dad might have paid for a couple weekends worth of gas. We figured that year we got about 300 salmon, which is not bad considering we aren't a charter boat, that we only run 4-6 rods (charters run 8-10), and that we don't fish 5 days a week. other high points: out of about 2000 fishermen we places 6th in a Lake Huron Derby. I've gotten a couple day prizes in other derbies on Huron and on Lake Ontario. I'm currently in third in the derby that ends tomorrow (one more once and I would have been in second) on lake ontario. Years ago dad and I landed a 42 pound chinook on huron which would have won us about 40K had it been caught 2 weeks earlier (talking to the Ministry of Natural Resourses they figured it was one of the largest fish caught in the area that year). this is getting far far far too long, so i'll stop. Brent

I see the Geneva St appartments, the north lighthouse, and the old mill in port or at least that's what I think they are (is it Port Dalhousie?) but what else am I supposed to be looking at? :?

You might be a Brent_e if you talk about climbing, but do not actually climb. You might be a Brent_e if you catch INVISIBLE fish.

In reply to: yeah, she doesn't seem to mind. When i told her Rebecca and i are going away next weekend i just mentioned that "i'm taking the other girlfriend climbing." I'm holding you to this one. And if you bail on me I'll break up with you! In other news Brent actually went out for a few hours today with me to boulder. Now, he may have had to leave early for some father's day buisness, but he was on real rock, albiet breifly. I'm sorry that no photos were actually taken of this, so many of you may believe this is akin to UFO or Sasquash sightings.

That is a monster salmon, brent! That walleye looks like a nasty critter though! Man, I'm no good at catching them, but I love me some fresh caught fish! I used to do a little angling on sierra trout streams with my grandpa, but that was years ago. And trout don't get as big as the Mighty Salmon. After college, I moved to Hawaii to pursue my dreams of surfing perfect waves. For a time, I was blissfully unemployed. But, I had a 10lb bag of coffee, a 10lb bag of rice, and I'd buy fresh ahi from local fishermen off the side of the road. Those were the days, and those were the waves! Life was cheap, and life was good! Oh, and I had a good day climbing Saturday. Reconnected with a partner I haven't seen since Nov., rescued a couple folks, and met a ton of cool people at Lover's Leap. Should have gotten Christine's phone number though, I really blew it on that one! Happy fathers day to all readers of the "brent_e" chat thread!

That is a sweet salmon. My biggest was only a 14 pounder. :( But it was still pretty good for trolling behind a sailboat. :D
