What is your favorit knot to use when climbing? Do you have any obscure knots that you tie to impress the hot chicks on the wall?

Knots as common as the two you have mentioned don't seem to impress hot chicks. In fact, knots period don't seem to impress hot chicks, or even mediocre fat girls. Unless you can tie your johnson in a knot. Then maybe you can get some.

never seen a bowline? It's pretty common I used it when I was in boy scouts.

the knots i use climbing are: figure 8, fisherman, bowline, waterknot, clove hitch, and munter hitch.
as far as impressing the ladies, nothing works like the "rodeo knot". that just entails flipping a loop of rope around in a circle, then tossing the end through to tie your figure 8. nothing impresses the ladies like a guy who spent hours at the crag and in the gym wasting his time learning to flip a rope into a knot. gets em every time.

I tell everyone who will listen that I have the ULTIMATE way to tie the bowline:
Tie a regular overhand knot, then pull the free end straight until the standing end loops around it. Then you feed the free end around the standing end and back through the loop. It's 97% foolproof. The only way you can mess up is if you feed the free end from the inside to the outside, instead of the correct way (outside to inside). And it's faster than making a loop, then trying to figure out which way to feed the free end in.

I can tie a one handed clove hitch. So obviously all the hot chicks want me. A bowline, How cliche'

Yes I have seen a bowline. I have even tied a bowline on a bite. But that was a link to a double bowline. Which I don't think that they thought you in boy scouts. O ya, I know that I'm not going to be able to go to the gym and pick up on the girls by tying knots. I just wanted to know some uncommon knots. Sorry I thought it would be funny.

The bowline is a very common knot, and is used commonly for tying ropes tight, with a taughtline hitch at the other end (for tying down a rainfly, etc.) I have used the bowline for many years and have even tied a bowline on a bite for practicing rescues (all you need is a rope). as for the double figure eight. it's not as common, but is another way for setting double pro at the top of a route.

double fisherman's knot, ow yeah, I just learned how to use that a while ago, if you just use the first knot of it its great to tie the extra slack at the end of your not. Isn't the bunny ears thing called a clove hitch, err munter?
