i'm essentially starting from the beginning. was an 11 climber, now probably a 9, maybe 10a/b for single pitch. questions on how to get back in? not in the states and lack training partners, which were good for motivation. any suggestions would be nice.

Find a CLIMBING PARTNER and go climbing. Try running to the cliff. Stop whining.

Sign-up for your local gym and go on the next diet talked about in Oprah's latest book. Then don't do anything....see if that works.

There sure are a lot of assholes on their thrones of infinite wisdom... douche bags...

As for advice, How did you get to 11's before? I think you will find that you can get back to where you were pretty quickly. The strength should be there if you were doing maintenance workouts. If this is the case, get out and do some endurance stuff, fairly hard routes one right after another. Get your endurance going! If this isn't the case, do what you did to get there before. Do a search on the site, lots of info here.

ok moron. read clearly and see that i'm not in the states and there's thing they call a LANGUAGE BARRIER, which can make it difficult to do things like communicate. so until that barrier disappears, i'm on my own.

what i'm lookin for is a solid training program, not a smartass comment.

Good luck on that one.

Honestly, I would start rope-soloing well below my limit, and build up slowly. For instance, find every 5.7 climb you can and climb them all. Next outing, 5.8. This should allow you to get that strength back without injury.

Likewise, getting out and hanging around the local crag/climbing gym is a much easier way to find partners than asking random folks on the street, language barrier or no.

Could've been an honest mistake - maybe he didn't realize that english is only spoken in the states.

I've been off for nearly 2 years.

Just jump into it. As silly as it sounds, just climb! Do whatever you did in the past to get you to 5.11; finding stronger partners helps.

This isn't the 1st time I've been away from climbing and the most frustrating thing is knowing the technique but no longer having the strength. Take things slowly and you'll back to 11s in no time.
