Poster on Cascade climbers noted this group of gear for sale. There is a pawnshop describing it "You are bidding on a big honkin bag of random rock climbing gear. This is an as is auction. We really know nothing about any of this stuff. After all, we're just a pawn shop".

Looks suspect.

If you are missing or had stolen gear, check it out. You have 6 days to report it to the police and get your stuff back.

Looks very suspicious. The gear wasn't even taken off the harness. A-holes.

"I run a pawnshop and I don't sell shxx that has been stolen, I swear!"

-yeah, and the people who sell it to you don't go out and spend the money on crack.

pawn shops cater to people with vices.... I know of no other activity I have ever participated in where more of the participants have such vices. Like it or not I even know people that have gear stored much like the gear in that picture... on the harness and all. The only way you would be able to steal my gear and harness looking like that picture is if you stole it off my body.... so the line of thinking of "it must be stolen... they didnt even bother taking gear off the harness" is pretty ridiculous.

Kudus to the OP for letting people know dont hound this pawn shop guy... if you really look at the situation its not all that unrealistic.

I hate pawn shops of any kind, the owners seem so desperate to sell, and they always think you are selling them shit that doesn't work.

I need to repost after i had a look at the pictures, what bullshit! If you want to sell something in a store, wouldn't you clean it up? The harness still has recient chalk marks. I'll bet climbers went to the tops of the crags and those assholes came around and jacked it up.

if you were a sober person you would probably indeed clean your stuff up if you were going to sell it..... but if you were a sober person you would probably sell your stuff of the internet or through some other avenue and get a lot more money for it. Pawn shops are for helping people get their fix. The chalk on the gear is stupid. I have a whole box of gear that sits in a plastic bucket and there is chalk over just about everything in that bucket. There are things that havent been touched in a year that if you pulled out of there would look like they had fresh chalk marks.

I am not saying its not stolen but if I had to bet I would put money on it being some person that gave up climbing a few years back and took up meth.
