So work is going to send me to Frederick, MD on Friday. I'm going to be there for a week or two - somthing about a "client emergency"... Anyway, I'm packin' my climbing shoes and harness and would love to checkout the climbing while I'm there. Even if I don't get outside, I'd be nice to get into a gym one night. Anybody feel like hookin' up with a Canuk for some climbing? Ken. [ This Message was edited by: kwmoore on 2002-09-18 17:51 ]

Sugarloaf, Annapolis rocks and Carderock are listed in the routes guide on this site. The best spot to just "find" a partner of those 3 would be carderock but its the farthest away from frederick Md. Hey Ken: Check out this site for local DC/MArylander climbers (some from Rc.com).http://groups.yahoo.com/group/dcoutdoorrockclimbing/ You'll be able to join in a climb. I would take you but I'm still hobbled by a knee injury. Charlie

Thanks all for prompt info. Charlie: Hope the knee feels better soon. Joints are such a pain in the a** when they get bunged up. Charley: I will have wheels. I'm going to be working this weekend (for sure) but next weekend (27-28 Sep) I should be able to get away. I'll let you know how it works out...

Dude, I used to climb out there like mad. Sugarloaf, from what I've heard is great, but don't go to Carderock unless you want lots of easy climbs and crowds of classes. Cross the Potomac (I think it's off of 495 W)and go to Great Falls on the Virginia Side(turn right off the exit and continue until you see the sign for Great Falls Park, parking is like $5.) Lots of top roping (in fact I've heard that lead is not allowed.) Have fun!

Frederick huh. I'd say Annapolis Rocks! The approach sucks for the first fifteen minutes, but gets better for the next 30. Really close too, like 5 - 10 minutes north of Frederick. Great rock. Sugarloaf is good to but about 20 minutes from frederick, no approach. Watch out, the rock is crumblie around there. -Sean

Been workin' like a dog since I've been in Frederick. This weekend it seems there might be a break in the work load. Anybody up for climbing on Sunday? Weather looks like it's going to be okay...
