Hi, planning a trip for mid-April to either Kalymnos or Mallorca. I am comparing costs and logistics between the two (mainly neccessity of car rental). Kalymnos is a bit pricier from Canada, but i think Mallorca necessitate a car rental, is it the same for Kalymnos? Any info would be appreciated. Thank you!

In Kalymnos, a scooter is definitely enough and can be used for 2 persons. If you are a large party, I don't know whether it's cheaper to rent 1 car or many scooters. The distances are short, there's unfortunately not many things to see there. If you have a day off, don't forget to take the ferry to Patmos, a wonderful island north of Kalymnos, where John wrote the Apocalypse. Must be nice around Eastern... On a personal side note : I would like to say that scooters are extremely noisy and Greek people love to ride them : I hadn't one quiet eveneing in Greece in the last stays there because of these fucking scooters! Donkeys were better!

Check www.climb-kalymnos.com for a choice of appartments. Although Kalymnos might be a bit cheapter than Mallorca, I personally would prefer Mallorca. The climbing varies more (sport, trad, routes up to a dozen of pitches, bouldering, dws, more interesting landscape, great for bicycling, and, and... Just my opinion.
