I am looking to take a week in january and climb in the warm and sunny south. Anyone down there interested in a climbing partner? Lead sport experience 5.9+, looking to branch out into trad. at some point

Anywhere with great climbing and a good partner! My main goal is to get climbing outside away from the snow and meet some new people. So times and places are entirely flexible.

Check weather reports of course. Some suggestions for sport would be rrg in ky. and I don't remember the places but look in the route data base for tenn. I don't remember which area is mostly sport and where it's mostly trad. There are some areas near chattanooga that are warm.

Check out Obed for sport and if you would be interested then maybe we could go to Twall for a week or two, gear routes only. Twall has a southern exposure and is awesome to climb on in colder months, no good in summer months. PM me back if you are interested. (I will do my best to get back to you asap) V. P.S. Twall has had some breakings so I found a nice campground nearby for $17 per day, water and showers are included in price.

Depending on my work schedule, and when you'll be down South, I may actually be in the TN area, if you'd want to meet up, I'm in about the same grade bracket as you, and also looking to branch into trad. I've heard good things about Foster's Falls, TN, lots of moderate sport routes, but no clue how it is in the winter; anyone know? I'd also love to hit up T-wall, but don't have lead experience yet, I'll clean routes all day though .

There are numerous places that are warm in winter in NC: Stone Mtn., Sauratown, others. Both those have website areas here with forums. Get on carolinaclimbers.org forum and ask; also http://groups.yahoo.com/group/nc-rock/ which is by Raleigh NC climbers. If you want to do Trad, are you with rack? Do mention that. Do you expect to camp in the climbing area? Mention that. Would everyone want to spend an intimate week with you? You did not mention age, and possibly other habits.... -
