Everest is 8848 m (or 8850, according to recent surveys?), so it's still a bit to go. Unless you're talking about a very tall guy named everest... Oh, yeah! Ropelength: 3*60 + 7017 = 7197 A friend of mine (I'm sure he'd join a projekt like this ) got 3 single ropes, 2 sets of double rope, all at 60 m, plus a 100 m static line, lesse... 7*60+100 = 520 m 520 + 7197 = 7717 m

That's just the peak elevation, not how far it is from top to base camp.

couldn't you just contact all the major rope mfg, fine out how much they're prodcuced in the last two years, (wouldn't want to rappel in space on rope older than that I think) and then we'd know if this is a futile effort or not.
