Could anyone give me some directions on how to find/notice snake rock? Im pretty sure its part of the west side of the smith rock group?

yes it's on the backside, but not on the west side of smith rock group. go over asterisk pass, and then head North, towards Monkey Face & spiderman buttress. The easiest way to know that you're there is that the rock will come right down to be on the side of the main trail. As you're walking north on the trail, the first climb you'll see is a 5.8ish long slab pitch with a bunch of bolts.
Another 20 yards north, there's a very striking vertical arete climb - split image (5.12) - that is probably the most recognizable climb on Snake rock. A Desperate Man & Hemp Liberation are another 10 yards up from there.
