not specific to climbing but is there any way i could safely do inverted situps on my pullup bar?

what's your safety concern? falling off or injuring yourself...i'd say get some of those moon boots (where you hang upsidedown by these hooks on the toes of the boots) if falling is your concern. or if your concerned about injury make sure the opposite muscles are equally strengthened, in this case it would be your lower back. try superman crunches to strengthen your lowerback. don't forget about muscle confusion so you'll want to mix it up with your abdominal exercises

I've got the moon boots, they are great. I only work out on them a few times a month, but that's enough if you're doing other workouts other times. Just make sure your pullup bar is in rock solid. If it popped out at the right time, you could potentially be paralyzed or dead. My bar is overbuilt.

Why not just do Knees to Elbows? its just like it sounds. instead of jsut a knee raise, "roll" up until your knees practically touch your elbows

Also I saw a some study done at some university that determined that it is the best exercise for strengthening abdominals.
