Hi, I want to take a friend to lookout mountain in north phoenix, but last time i went (2 years ago) it was infested by bees. So I was wondering if anyone has been there lately and might know if they have moved on or taken over the cliff.

I was out at lookout about two weeks ago and didn't have any troubles with bees. We stayed mostly on the far right routes, behind the big boulder. The map shows two beehives, one above route #18 and another above route #8, but as the fold out map I have is dated, its hard to say if they are active or not. Hope this helps. Lookout for people hiking on the trail above the routes, and try to tell them you're climbing before they kick a rock on top of you.
