On Sunday, September 28, 2008 our one and only Chossmonkey made a clean redpoint of The Monument 5.12d at White's Bluff, Ontario, Canada. After his send, he was quoted as saying that his many hours of rc.com surfing attributed to his ability to send the route. Clearly his specific finger strength training on his keyboard was the final piece to send his project....Currently he is off, on roadtrip - how will his climbing fare as his high post count is topped by the masses sitting at home surfing and not climbing?!? Perhaps there is hope for the armchair climbers sitting in Chossy's Lounge and surfing the many pages of the Brent E thread......Send hard armchair climbers, send hard! Awesome work Nate!

Thanks guys. The Monument is a very impressive looking route, it begs to be climbed. Even the best pictures don't do it justice. That thing is HUGE!!! I love seeing the expressions on peoples faces the first time they see it in real life. My thanks go to the people I dragged out there to belay me on it. Especially Rebecca a.k.a. Granite_Grrl and Neil a.k.a. Gowser. Rebecca put in a good amount of time belaying at a section of cliff without many other routes. Neil spent time belaying but more importantly aided the roof to strip it so I could do a real redpoint and was always psyched to be there working on it with me. Without their help and support it would have been even harder.

You forgot to say your profile pic shows the roof as well. Dunno 'bout you guys, but the rumor I heard was that they keep the man-sized bombz up there.
