Are these still possible to buy? I feel like I have scoured the net, but came up empty. Anyone got any they want to sell?

thanks, I did see that one, but the micro and wide are not available. I might try to get the narrow...although the shipping is 10 bucks!

Narrow and wide are worth getting. I've got the micro and fragile flake, and they just don't get used. I've heard the same from other folks. Pretty much I use the narrow a lot, the wide occasionally, the other two never.

The Yosemite Mountain Shop has loads of em.

If you're really nice, you minght be able to talk someone into picking some up for you if you can't get there yourself.

They have four sizes.

I'm pretty sure that you can order them from the yosemite mountain shop. If you're just getting into aid pick up some of the hb brass offsets too.

Mountain shop is out. When I saw that Leeper was going to stop making products I loaded up. These are the very best damn things. I'm holding mine until the price goes up insanely, and it won't happen till all available existing stock disappears, which is coming soon.

So buy early and buy often should be the word here. I saw what happened to HB offset nuts when HB stopped making them. Even knowing DMM was suppose to start producing them, it was crazy what folks were paying.

I just bought some from the mountain shop the other day. They had about a half dozen of each... oh well.

You'll still be able to order the ones from Pika. They're pretty good too.

I keep hearing that Pikas are shit while the Leepers are THE Shit. People say that the Pikas flex and also do not stick as good in cracks as the Leepers.

Those Leepers are sickly hard and are real secure in often improbable looking spots.

Ahh, they're not totally shit, they stick in cracks alright, problem is they don't fit in some spots as well. They have some stupid ridge/bend in them that tends to catch on stuff. I don't think they flex much more though, I could be wrong.

Either way it beats using micro nuts in an expanding flake eh.

One think they got going for them is they can be "lightly" hammered tapped in place due to their desigh and left as (somewhat) reliable pro.

I use Leepers myselfWink

a pair on ebay right now:

The narrow are the most useful in my opinion.

thanks for the link...do you think these are still reliable even though they were made a while back? I would replace the webbing of course, but they are over 30 years old!

Steel stuff like that with no obvious rust is as good as the day it was made, IMHO.

I live in Australia and do big walls there, I use all three cam hooks I have on the rack all the time on lead, I primarily use the middle on most ut use the micro and the large about 1/4 of the time and the mid sized one 1/2. I picked mine up new off ebay and when I was in Yosemite last I saw they had heaps there. Go the leepers they are the shit.

Yeah, what Moof said. I suppose that the largest one, which is aluminum and not high alloy steel like the others, could be worked to the point of failure if you choose to use it exclusively for 6 or 7 trips up El Cap, but I've never heard of one wearing out or breaking, I suppose it could eventually happen.

Now for the news: there is a rumor (OK, more than a rumor) that Theron Moses, a metal smith and Yos climber, will be making a batch of these soon. As he has been Mfg the old not made anymore A5 birdbeaks and keyhole hangers for a while, it's probably the truth. If you want to get in line for them go here and contact these folks:

The good news is that from what I know T Moses would be one of the better choices to maintain the very high standards of quality and precision that Leeper kept throughout his long run of these.

Good luck
