Hey all,

I hope everyone is having a good winter climbing season, on ice or in the gym. Spring is on it's way so stay psyched in no time the new river rendezvous will be here.

So, I wanted to see if anyone had any old pitons... lost arrows, knifeblades and/or angles that they were looking to unload and get some cash for.

Apple and I are heading out west again and looking to get some aid gear. I'm on the look out for the aforementioned pins and some hooks. So if you have some or know anyone that does drop me a line and we can talk.

Cheers,

Chris

I will be in western PA May 22-26. I would like to climb somewhere near the Ohiopyle area. I climb sport up to 510b. (I am currently recovering from rotator cuff injury, so not sure I'll be quite up to 5.10b by May.) I will be available for 1-2 days during that time, weekend or weekday. I usually climb at Smith Rock in Oregon (all sport, no trad). I need at least one day of climbing in order to survive the family visit in PA. I am on the lighter side, about 110# so I would like to stay within a 50# range for belaying. Bonus points for safety-consciousness!

I was at the mill today. I met a friend and we had a nice afternoon. It was 27 - 28 degrees and a bit of sun. We spent most of the3 time in t5he gulley on the back side of island block. There was a little sun on that wall. There was ice on the ground in places and the rock was cold but we were out on the rock. Ross boulder was doable also. So get your shoes warmeed up. The season is about to start.
I'm hoping to go to nc. in a few days to find some warmer rock though.

I'm pretty excited for some warm temps in PA. Beau and I took a trip out west last week and it really left me wanting more.

Now if only I can find some time off of work...

I did a hard hilly 4 mile hike to check out my knees and then went to the mill and bouldered for a bit this afternoon. It was just so nice out. I hope you had a good weekend. We may not be able to climb every day but I think the season is here.

Sounds like a very enjoyable day. Wish I could've been out enjoying weather as opposed to ~5 hours in the car.

Where did you hike? I've never done anything at the mill other than climb but there are a few trails I'd like to get on. Problem is by the time I get up there I just want to climb Tongue.

I have hiked most of the trails at the mill and at morraine. I went to kennerdale yesterday. I wanted to test my knees. There is a trail there that after a 5 minute stroll down the road it has a dam hard 20 minute very steep uphill. I did stretch the legs before starting uphill. Then there is a nice pretty level mile that takes you to a lookout over the town and the allegheny river. That is followed by a nasty downhill mile then a rolling dirt road mile. It was a nice hike and the knees did fine.

My grandparents had a camp very close to Kennerdell:
http://maps.google.com/...41.31769%2C-79.85599

Spent so much time wandering the woods around there from the time I was 5 to 17 or so. They've sold it since, but I keep meaning to head back because my uncle who still owns a camp there has told me about some rock cities and walls that he's stumbled upon while hunting.

I vaguely remember seeing the one rock city myself when I was younger, and if it was truly as big as my young eyes made it, there would be a good bit of stuff to do. He claims the rock wall (different area) is 100 feet high, which I kinda doubt but still haven't found time to head up there yet to disprove (or prove...) it.

I hope to soon...

Did you spend most of your time on that side of the river.
I had another nice day at the mill today. A few toperopes in the sun. Leaving for the red river gorge in less than a week. That's if the weather looks better.

Fortress is a great area. lots of Nice 5.5 stuff for us old guys.. :) Calypso II is one of my favorites there. Never been to Muir. We are going to try to make it there later in the year. There are a couple of other nice areas we hit last year. "Lucky Duck Soup" and "The Perfect Pint" are a couple of good ones at the Gold coast / Solar Collector area and the first 3 routes @ Left Field as well as "Octopus Tag" @ The Playground (great 5.7), Have Fun!

Several subhumans and deviants were at High Rocks Friday.

What a beautiful spot. I survived without getting hurt.

Everyone should be able to get out regularly now.

Man was I stiff today, but yoga took care of that.
