It rains quite a bit... but the climbing is still good. Try Koh Phi Phi to get away from Tonsai if you can't handle the wetness.

northernmost Thailand is opening up. the quadrant just NW of Chiang Rai (tourist town) has 5 hills. One of which is a semi-commercial park called Boomerang with 20 cleared limestone routes - all top-rope. However, nearby hills have much potential, with nearly none having been climbed. Not big walls, but beautiful setting in forests by river. Much vines need to be cleared, but not difficult. Boomerang offers free lodging to anyone clearing routes.
