Of course art is subjective.
I don't really understand Starry Nights for instance. I mean it's probably one of the most famous paintings in the world, and it looks like something a 4 year old painted. If I were to see it, not knowing who it was, I might ask why you were posting a painting that your 4 year old did in nursery school on a painting critique forum. I honestly wouldn't hang Starry Nights in my house if it was an original copy. I can't stand it!
Does everyone like Ansel Adams work? Hell no. As a matter of fact it wasn't till I saw his photographs on a traveling museum display, and got a really good book with his photos that I really appreciated it. A lot of books are poor quality, low contrast reproductions of images that should have incredible tonality. So when you viewing the low quality images, that look like someone hit "convert to greyscale" in photoshop, you keep saying, where is the tonal genius I always hear about.
The last thing is people feel compelled to comment in photo critiques. I've participated in Photoflow which is a flickr hack, that allows real time critiquing and photo discussion. The problem I had was that many photos I simply liked, but when pressed for a problem I'd make one up just to not seem like I wasn't participating.

This is so true of so many critic forums. Unfortunately, it doesn't help the photographer improve.
Just read you blog, sorry to hear you have yet another physical problem. You sure don't have much luck with this stuff do you.

Luckily it's cleared up for the most part. While a new issue wasn't appreciated, I was glad it wasn't disc related.
You can look at it either way, I haven't been sick since 8th grade, which is like 16 years, but I've had an ACL reconstruct, double laminectomy, and have had recurrent bouts with tendonitis over the years.
That said, my knee is literally as good as new, sometimes I forget which knee was repaired, and my back has only been an issue for about 6 months out of the last 8 years! All things considered I'll take that!
