Hello- I'll be in Pittsburgh this weekend (visiting from DC) and was hoping to find somebody to climb with on Saturday. Indoors or out (although the weather looks like its going to be great). PM me if you'd be willing to take me along or have recommendations. Thanks!

Loli; I hope you got out with someone today.
I was at the mill yesterday and today. My body is trashed but the weather guy says rain for the next four days. I'll rest then. It was just great out there the last cpl. days. Rock is great and temps are nice. Even the fair weather climbers are out now. My pburgh friends were going to derry today but 100 miles each way is too much for derry. Hope you got out..

Thanks! I wasn't able to go climbing this time but I did manage to get a sunburn! I was in town for such a short time and on such short notice that I didn't have very much time to plan ahead. I'm in Pittsburgh alot (and would love to move there) during the spring and summer though, so I'm sure I'll get another chance. I'll be sure to post again (hopefully more in advance) the next time I get back up there.

You can tell it's warmer now. Everyone is out on the rock. Even ppl who shouldn't be.Sly Thursday at the mill there was the linsley school bus and all the kiddies. I met a new young man down there and he was doing fine on the rock. Another guy that will be a fine young climber when he learns some technique.
I was down at the mill again today and ppl were everywhere. Parking was at a premium and ropes on everything except the hard stuff that only the old guys climb.Cool I was just doing some soloing with a crash pad. I didn't want to stress things too much cause I'm meeting some folks from pburgh there tomorrow. So if you have nothing to do or noone to climb with stop at the mill and get on a rope. Another warm day headed our way. I have been working on the far right of five fingers and it was sunny and I was dripping quickly. I got a good workout and am looking forwrd to tomorrow. It is sposed to atart raining wednesday for a few days. Get out while you can.

Another nice day at the mill. Rock was nice, weather was great, and climbed with friends. I met a bunch of burgh folks and we set up top ropes and had a fun day climbing. I even met some new folks. I climbed til I was fairly tired and packed up and left. As I got near my van on the top another friend hollered up a hello. I was too tired to walk back down and bs so we talked a minute, shouting back and forth, and I left. I got home and took my pack upstairs and set it on the floor. I came downstairs, got a beer, read a bit and was falling asleep when my wife came home. I went to bed and had a much needed nap and feel fine now. I hope you got out on the rock.

Another nice day at the mill. I met Andy there around 2 and we set up a top rope. Last week was his first time out doors climbing. We had some more schooling and then went down and climbed a couple variations. We went up and I taught him to rapel down and he did that. He also belayed me for the first time today. A friend, Joe,had another route set up and Andy climbed that too. Nice to be young. We were all a bit tireed and went home.

Does anyone have any bata for "President Rocks"?
About 2 miles back McCrea Schoolhouse Road, off of route 62 N near President, PA
Looks like some nice routes with little or no use.
Any Access issues?

Looks like it'd be awfully close to the vicinity of Panther Caves. Are they possibly the same area? I've never been to either so I don't know.

Google maps has it on the other side of 62, but in the same area. It has it about 4 miles down president road off 62, almost to venus on 157.

I have been to Panther Caves, Nice place.
Found these other Rocks while hiking in from Hemlock creek. One nice rock face and several outcroppings. I used to hunt that area 20 years ago. I will try to post some pics on my facebook page: http://www.facebook.com/home.php#/profile.php?id=1345595841&ref=name

Saturday at 5 AM, The Wise climber, Nicky and I left to go south, arriving at Summersville Lake at 8:30.

Item: The Wisenhimer led everything. He was our rope gun!

We headed down to the Long Wall, where we did Chewy, (5.10b), Personal Pronoun, (5.9) and For What? aka Hot & Bothered, (5.10b), then went over to the Perot Wall for a couple 10a's. We were all trashed, and after swimming in the lake, swent for File Gumbo at Gumbos, and out to Rogers to camp. We called Scores for the Penguin's game, and were in bed early.

This morning we hiked down to Butcher's Branch at 7:45 AM, and enjoyed Low Voltage and The Green Piece (5.10b) before the hordes arrived, then headed over to Endless, rapped down Fantasy, and did Strike a Scowl (10b) and finished on The Upheaval (9) on the Kaymoor Slab. We hit the road at 6 and were home around dark.

I've been going to the New for years, but never noticed how incredibly beautiful it is. The Long Wall with the views of the lake is awesome. I can't wait to go again.

Hey All--I'm going to be in NE Ohio for the next week--6/9 through 6/15--visiting my parents. it's mostly family obligations, but I'm hoping to squeeze in a day of climbing, either at Logtown or McConell's Mills. I would love to meet up with a partner or group to climb with--I'll have a rope and some sport gear with me. I've been climbing for a lot of years, comfortable in the 5.9-5.11 range, and would be happy to climb with folks of any experience and ability level.

Best way to reach me is through this site--I would really appreciate it if someone could help me out!
Thanks, Grant

Might be heading to Lisbon with a couple folks on Sunday the 14th, but will probably depend on the weather and the timing of a family gathering that day. Will confirm if I'm going later.

Posted some new photos and video clips - Timber Rattlers eatin' Chipmunks, sport climbin' at 'Schoolhouse Wall',ice, cavin', paddlin'.....
www.wildfilmproductions.com>news/info or Cinema.

Visited 'Colls Cove' earlier today. Been 'many a moon'. Was quizzed a bit as to my 'credentials' (i guess). Got me thinkin'...

High Rocks, DerryPA - early 80's...
Govi, Goodman, Swoager, Gunter, Rentka, R.K. Meyers, Janoscrat, Kooperstock, Swoagers buddy who forgot to tie in while rapping 'Washing Machine' and shattered his ankle after free fall, good reefer....

A few more but I don't remember their names. I remember a guy who drove the red Firebird who regularly soloed 'Mysticism'(?) and who we ran into twice on the summit at Seneca (he was unroped after soloing 'Gunsight to South Peak' and 'Breakneck' - even though they're only 5.3 - 5.4 - FKu!).

Good Times

Year 2000(+). Tim and Co. puttin' up some big ice climbs at 'Secret Cliffs'. The Ridge (Anderson, Hahn, Rentka, Samples, Byrnes, Johns) - 200+ boulder problems and countin'.

On top of that we got "Li'l Buddy - 100 lbs of muscle and woop ass - soakin' wet!

Good Times
