I like to have a small ticklist and other such notes on a little whiteboard I keep in my kitchen. As a left hander, I've always struggled to write on it without smearing/wiping off the ink.

I have solved the problem!!!

Flip the whiteboard upside down and write upside down and backwards.

This will change my life.

What's on the ticklist? How's the finger? How do you have a ticklist and an injury? Seems like it might drive you to get back too early.

My ticklist is rather short at the moment.

Equinox
Moonlight Buttress

I finally started training. Figuring out my training systems is the current priority so that I can accomplish my goals.

Well, it was about Jan 22 when I hurt my finger. A fair bit of strength has returned but not a ton. It's only a ring finger though, so it doesn't take much pressure. I've tested it on some crimps and it's working ok. The bigger problem is being able to straighten the finger out. That's a long way away I fear.

I sent a (s0ft) 12c, 12b, and 2 11c's sport yesterday and onsighted an old school 12a sport and 11d trad the day before. Due to super hot temps, we decided to delay our trip to Mooniight Buttress until the fall.

The ticklist is actually more just a front range training guide. Many routes here are either techy crimps with adequate rest or too shouldery. Not bad routes, just terrible to make you a fitter climber. The list is steep routes that aren't likely to rip tendons or shoulders while at the same time making me way fit.

For my real ticklist, I don't actually have one right now. Only ideas.

How about this, I stay in town, climb with an extraordinarily sexy partner, do FA's and big routes with area hardmen when she is at work, sleep till 9 every morning, and earn $1000 a week for riding a bike.

Sorry man, I'm staying put for the summer.

Keep in mind there are many months in the winter that I've lived off about $1000 for the month. That's before rent, bills, etc, not after. It's literally 4 good months and 8 months of quiet desperation. That was exascerbated by 7 weekends of shitty weather in a row this spring, it likely cost me $3000 and will make it very difficult to get ahead over the summer or buy a new vehicle in the fall like I was planning.

Feast or famine. It's fun for a while but overall, it truly does suck.

After this summer, I hope to never be on a pedicab again unless as a passenger. I'd be dumb to quit once it's finally gotten good for the year though.

You should try taping the marker to the back of your hand; that way you don't need to think about writing upside down and backwards.

Well... not as glamorous as I first though.

A guy like you could probably make a years salary doing the pedicab thing in NYC! Think about it, NYC pedicab in summer, king crab in winter. 6 months off and retirement paid for. Wink

Good luck with the penmanship.

Yeah, for Equinox the best training might be doing finger thrusts into a barrell of glass shards, or beating on your tips with your wall hammer to kill all the nerve endings. Gorgerous line, but damn is that thing painful.

A number of years ago a friend & I traveled from NY up through Canada. Shortly after entering Canada, we stopped at a tourist information area. As we talked to the person at the desk, she pulled out a map, faced it towards us, and proceeded to write down all her tips for us - so we could read them. We were blown away by how fast she could write upside down & backwards.

Wouldn't it just be easier to learn to write with your right hand, no?Tongue

Another lefty here. Somehow, I resisted the primary school training that tried to force me to write in such a way that my hand continuously dragged across my words. I actually write with the pen/pencil/whatever oriented perpendicular to the paper, so with my hand BELOW the line I'm writing on. No smearing!

How could I say no to a climbing trip that would involve an FA on an asteroid, anchored in by a tire, and getting belayed by a grigri half the size of my body? I'm in.

Please, don't make me ashamed of a fellow leftie. Lefties are supposed to be SMART. Don't tell me that it took you this long to figure out how to write left-handed with a sharpie and not smear it! My 6yo could have tought you, if you had asked...

I've learned that very few can have it both ways.

For my best though, it was the DNC in Denver. There was a football game, 2 baseball games, then the DNC for 4 days. 7 days of work, a little just over $5000. Something like that will never happen again though.

The day after it was over, a friend took me to a strip club and bought me a lapdance. My legs were so sore I almost cried out in pain when the stripper sat on my lap.

True...I've made 8600 bucks in call options in the last month with my mad money, but I can't lead harder than 5.9 trad. I'll be in Co Springs in a few weeks, maybe you can peddle on down and teach me how to climb and I'll teach you how to make $$ in any market Cool
